When I was a kid in the 70's I used to love to sit in our backyard and watch the Soviet airliners land in Montreal. We lived right under the flight path 2 miles from Dorval airport.

I am working for Lufthansa in Germany and my mum has access to my flight benefits. So she used business class LH product very often to fly to Russia to St. Petersburg. But ones she decided to fly economy with Aeroflot and she was impressed how good the food on an Aeroflot flight was compared to LH business. Russian crew was very friendly to her and she loved the Aeroflot experience more then LH flights.

Flew Aeroflot Jan 1979 from Singapore to Moscow on a school trip. We were high school kids, from the American School in Singapore going on a senior trip. It was quite the experience! We were 12 high school kids with100 Russian seaman who had been on a boat in the South China Sea for 6 months!

My last flight on Aeroflot was back in 1995 and it was the only white knuckle plane ride of my life. The flight was so scary. All it did was vibrate from the time we took off to the time we landed. It was dirty and very cramped. I was lucky to meet a large group of Russians on their way home and they were passing the vodka. I got offered and didn't refuse...lol They made the flight so much better. Such nice folks and so much fun. I'll never forget when the plane landed how everyone clapped and cheered...lol I was never so happy to land.

You are lucky to find space in that lounge as well, maybe it is because it was so early in the morning. In October I was there around 09:30 in the morning and managed to find a single seat to sit at... I like Aeroflot by the way! Thank you for sharing your videos

3:45 I love this Expo Livery from Emirates. It's vibrancy really does shine with slabs of blue and all the other the colours shown within the livery. Others will say that Emirates are doing too much with this one and that's fine, it's not everyone's cup of tea. So for that I'm giving this a solid 8/10.

I have flown with Aeroflot several times in last 15 years or so and both price and quality are very good. Also was able to test their TU-134 when they were still flying and must say Tupolevs are much cooler than anything flying today 👍 You should also try SSJ100. I have flown it 3 times so far and it has superior leg room to any other regional jet, very comfortable.

Yes!!! I flew with Aeroflot from Nice to Moscow 3 years ago and it was the best European airline (and I think I flew with all of them except few low-cost that I’m not interested to even try) and if you have any chance to get inside Russia try Sapsan = high speed train from Moscow to St.Petersburg, the Russian staff was top for all business / first class😘 (and food choices were👍)

Vielen Dank, Josh, für diesen interessanten Videoclip. Es war schön das neue Terminal von Scheremetevo zu sehen. Alles ist verändert verglichen seit den 80er Jahren, als ich davon nach Irkutsk flog. Jetzt ist es nicht möglich mit Aeroflot zu fliegen. Und es ist sogar gefährlich, weil Aeroflot keine Ersatzteile für die geraubten Flugzeuge bekommt. Du machst interessante Videoclips. Dein Besuch in Grünland hat mir sehr gefallen. Grüße aus Finnland!

EK Expo livery: 6/10. It does look like something a 10 year old might paint in art class, but it is eye-catching and it does draw attention to the Dubai Expo, which is what it is intended to do.

The number of airplane safety incidents in Russia has more than doubled in a year. Last year, there were 74 safety incidents on all airplanes with 19 or more seats, up from 36 in 2022, the Wall Street Journal reported. In 2023, incidents occurred about 9.9 times for every 100,000 flights, compared with 5 in 2022 and 4.5 in 2019. Safety experts warn that persistent tech problems pose a serious safety risk to passengers and increase pressure on pilots. This is all because Putin's Russia has lost access to foreign supplies of spare parts, tech support, critical software updates, etc.

I flew Aeroflot in 1990 Helsinki-Riga on a Tupelov. The seat backs didn't lock and the overhead baggage was on a long rack with no doors. The pilot was a daredevil, zooming into Riga airport like landing on an aircraft carrier. I think I paid about $330.

I flew from Voronezh-Astrakhan-Baku-Voronezh with Aeroflot in 1986, the last time I went with them. It was a Tupolev both ways. It was a bit agrarian but the crew were great and the flights were uneventful apart from the back of a seat falling off, requiring a guy to move. I've had many, many better flights but I've never had a better adventure.

I was working in cargo for Alaska Airlines in Seattle USA, in the 80’s and we had an Aeroflot cargo jet arrive that our airline was ground handling. A co-worker and I had never been on a Russian plane so after the flight crew got off and to their hotel, we went onboard to check it out. There was a short ladder up to the cockpit and once we got up there, to our surprise, were a couple of empty VODKA BOTTLES! True story!!

@@sainnt its not the airlines fault. It’s the baggage handler’s fault cause they have to get the suitcases in the carts as fast as they can, so they have Time for the next flight.

@@imcvegas when your luggage is damaged between the time you check it in and the time you collect it, that's definitely the airline's fault because the baggage handler is working for the airline. That's why airlines pay you for damaged luggage. On top of that, not properly logging the claim is also the airline's fault.

Last week I saw through Flightradar24 an Aeroflot flight landing at LAX, I had already planned on going there to plane spot… sadly I missed it. The times I’ve been there I haven’t seen Aeroflot but I’m hoping to see one, that or the Emirates Expo livery A380, I know it’s been to LAX before. I’m not saying it’s pretty but I do like how bold the colors are and it’s completely different from the usual and 50th anniversary liveries I usually see.

The reason for the different coloured fuselage on Aeroflot is to do to with the wing paint. If the wings are naturally painted white, or at least not silver, then the fuselage is white. If the they are silver, like on an A320, the fuselage is silver to match the wings

I recently flew Aeroflot from SVO terminal C. The terminal flight was one of the best terminals I have seen in my life. It is a small building with 15 to 20 gates. Getting there by public transport (Aeroexpress) is a very huge hassle. It took me almost 2 hrs from the center. I highly recommend to take Metro Line 2 to Rechnoy Vokzal and then a local bus. If you take Aeroexpress, it's a long walk from Terminal E to the people mover, then a ride before going up several floors. The Aeroflot flight, was an experience I want to forget. Meal provided mid flight on a night flight. Meals were average at best. PA system was so soft that I never realized the safety video was already aired. Crews dreading taking the flight. It was a silent flight with the engine and other passenger voices were the only thing heard. I flew on their 777-300ER.

Interesting video, Josh. I don’t know why but I think, the slow procedure of meal service is actually their style. I had a flight from Hanoi to Moscow, and the services were as slow as you had. Same with the flight from Bucharest to Moscow, but I was eating and drinking throughout the length of the flight lol.

Hi Josh, this is not your former Commie airline. It's a truly world class airline with a great product and exceptional service. I fly Aeroflot a dozen or more times annually, mostly on the LHR run and/or LCA. It has rarely disappointed. A little known Russian law requires Russian carriers to serve a meal, they pensioned off the old baboushkas in favour of 20'something FA's. Don't let their smile fool you though, they are well trained and will save your ass in an emergency. And the new terminal at SVO is magnificent !

Of all the Russian built airliners I always wanted to try a flight on, the IL-62 would be my choice. I think it would be wild to hear that quartet of Soloviev D-30s screaming all at once on takeoff. No other airliner other than the very similar VC-10 makes a noise like that. Like having four noisy kids in the back seat screaming to the top of their lungs for ice cream all at once LOL.

@Josh Cahill - I now challenge you to take a domestic flight on Aeroflot. Fly to someplace like Krasnodar out Simferopol. Then compare to S7 and Ural. I have found Aeroflot international flights to be great. Domestic? Can’t wait for your experience.
