Yea this has always been an absurd take by people from the comfort of places like the US that have never had to deal with the reality of turning a state on the brink of failure into a functional one (potentially losing the revolutionary war/War of 1812 and going back to being a protected British subject isn't remotely as bad as Haiti). The DR had to endure more or less everything Haiti did for centuries (not just at the hands of their Spanish overlords but Haiti/their French ones as well) and only managed to improve things there the last few decades... through their own hard work with little/no outside help. Now that one of the only third world countries in history has turned itself into a stable, functioning "middle of the pack" country everyone thinks it's their job to just take on the burden of Haiti's problems; if the richest countries on earth can't fix Haiti, what are the odds the DR could fix it compared to the odds it reverts all the progress the DR as well? Open door migration policies in recent years have had horrific consequences on Europe (ask a Swedish person about this) and now the burden of supporting countless refugees is revealing it's insane weight in the US. People ought to be blaming those that caused the crisis in Haiti, like France forcing Haiti to pay ~$20 billion for daring to rebel their way out of slavery.

If we want a long term solution, we need to address the problems that caused the gangs to rise up in the first place. Big ones being poverty and inequity. The vast majority of people don't turn to crime because they want to. It is a lack of other options. If that isn't addressed, nothing will really change.

So, I wonder if the reason why the S-70 was out there was both an attempt to see if they could use them to pull back on using Su-34s for the deployment of glide bombs, pairing them with planes (be it 57s or maybe 34s) to increase stand-off distance further, as well as to actually test their stealth capability. Now whether they have many more drones or the ability to make more, is up for speculation. I'm willing to chalk up the shoot down to something stupid like the pilot the wingman was paired to screwing something up, maybe losing control, and then them desperately trying to get rid of the drone in order to hide it's presence, or even playing into an "accidental shoot down," in order to misdirect from the fact that they probably would like to use these for stand off bombing.

Stealth capability does not mean being impervious to heat seeking missiles, it means that it's not detectable by most radar and other intelligence measures, making them very hard to combat with ground weapons as they are too far up to reach with heat seeking weapons.

it's important to remember that what the west and China mean by 'stealth' is not the same as what it means in Russia.
