Russia to show Russian heavy-duty aircraft internationally for first time in 30 years

The aircraft is designed for interregional troop transport, heavy equipment conveyance, cargo logistics, and airdropping of personnel and equipment, offering the capacity to transport a wide range of weapons and military equipment used by Russian airborne forces. It is manufactured at the Aviastar plant in Ulyanovsk.

So many good Soviet planes were allowed to fade away in favour of western models . It is time that the Russians brought back some Yaks, Ilushin & Tupolev passenger and Cargo planes that only need the Engine and electronics modernised in order to not be so reliant on the unreliable West who always want to try to sanction Russia because Russia will not take their orders . I hope to see the Il-96 brought back , modernised and put back into service as it is a very capable Plane and the Cubana Airways has one . Russia does not need to rely on the west for this equipment as they can compete using their own products .

The latest il-76 variants have an impressive payload capacity of 60 tons, but their cargo hold remains too narrow to transport heavy armour vehicles such as the T-14 , T-15 , Kurganets-25 Even for the export market, many IFV's and Tanks are too wide to fit inside, in fact the embraer c390 which has less than half the payload capacity has the same width as the il-76MD . The only tank that fits is the Type 10 tank from japan and the only tracked IFV's that fit are the CV90 and maybe the K21 🤔

More than 1000 airplanes have been built, which in more than half a century of exploitation have shown that they are exceptional machines, very reliable, robust and durable. The only drawback that the original variants had was the increased load on the pilot due to the need to continuously make manual corrections during landing, which was eliminated in later variants by installing automatics. If you are planning to buy a transport plane, this one should be at the top of your list... everyone uses this plane... including the Americans!

The C-17 is definitely comparable. But, the U.S. is an undependable partner for parts and service after the sale. Washington has a bad habit of using sanctions for trifling matters. Moscow will support its equipment and without political strings attached. Therefore, if a country needs a heavy hauler, the Il-76 is the best choice.
