Negotiations are hard, often times people will egress for no reason. Usually this means you need to find another ally or come back to it at a later point. More often than not someone that can’t play good neighbour ends up annoying everyone and dying

From my POV, I've set up a stack on a split bonus like Blue before with zero intention to break the player who was allowing it to exist - my plan with it was to hope that if someone went for my kill, even if they were good and did their math to know I was holding the split, they probably wouldn't allocate enough troops to kill the hidden stack. Ideally then I'd have a trade and an opportunity to get back into the game. Usually I only bother doing this if it's a split italy or orient though, since that means I can hide the stack 2 territories deep and not freak out my neighbor.
@TheKillPeteStrategy
@TheKillPeteStrategy 6 күн бұрын
You might no intend to break now. But you do intend to break eventually. If I'm going to pull a move like that I'll put the troops on all at once. Like dump a set into the position randomly. That would be was less threatening to my neighbour than progressively dripping troops into that territory and it also would allow me to use the bulk of my forces where they're needed, making kills and avoided the stalemate part of these settings.

That 11 vs 4 cap roll was stupid game mechanic. How many times have we seen 8 v 4 cap rolls with 6 left on cap? Btw, i appreciate you sharing a little bit of your relationship with God. I agree with your preface, human life can never have enough of positively impactful divinity regardless of how we try to reason about it.

Too be fair, he could probably be an expert. I feel like I fall into a similar boat because I used to play a lot but barely do now. If he only plays once a week or once a month and missed one season his rank is not gonna get back to grandmaster without a bit of a grind. Just another example of the shitty ranking system lol

I find myself disappointed in the lack of placing priority on taking the red cap and sending half your troops to africa instead. I think taking and holding capitals deserves the priority in this situation especially because it helps secure Orient which was your stated objective earlier. AND black had just consolidated so it would have told him not to contest you there. Very few times I think Pete is making a suboptimal play and sending only 12 units to take the cap when he could have sent 20-22 was really disappointing.

That's an interesting take on God. It's annoying when people say "God can't exists because why would he allow human suffering in the world if he existed?" doesn't prove anything except for a flawed idea of what God is or should be.
@insomniac0095
@insomniac0095 13 күн бұрын
But there are many, many issues with the concept of god that go far behind just "why does he let people suffer? An omniscient god is problematic for example. If he knows everything past/present/future, it means he's creating some people he knows he will doom to hell for eternity. We may have free will, but if he knows what we'll do before he even creates us, it means he's creating life knowing it will cause suffering and knowing he will burn it for that. If that's how the universe really works, yikes. We either have a maker who is far from benevolent, or more likely there is no maker. But too many people want to act like god is just watching us with popcorn and hoping for the best. That's not how an all knowing being would work. If I create a robot and give it the ability to make choices, but I already know that its programming is going to lead it to murder someone, are you going to blame me or the robot?

For me, the thing about faith is I think it's ok to admit that sometimes people believe things without evidence and in that case don't need proof. I prefer that because I feel it's more honest

@@t.n.h.ptheneohumanpatterna8334 since there is no proof we have to allow everyone the freedom to believe what they choose and understand that that belief is based on faith rather than fact. So I don't think it's reasonable at all to ask for proof of the unprovable. I think it's a waste of everyones time at best and disrespectful at worst.

Hey Pete, in the Early game with blue when he is continuing to stack 1s and 2s on for that bonus on your border. Was there a particular reason you did not put troops on a retaliatory stack?
@rockstermaniac
@rockstermaniac 13 күн бұрын
presumably because he believed as long as he did nothing blue, who deliberately made a friendly move at the beginning of the game to let him have russia in the first place, was only ever going to use that stack when he was ready to attack him and would do so regardless of if there's a guard stack or not. Pete didnt want to have to invest over 50% of his troop generation guarding against an attack that would only happen if he was already in a losing position against blue only to get them slammed anyways. Especially since in Progressive cards owning territories only truly matters in the early game... the cards are more valuable in the late game as he demonstrated with his reverse card block on blue in Spain with black. He assumed that if blue was a noob he wouldnt have vacated russia to give him russia and that if he isnt a noob than the stack isnt a threat to his game its just annoying...
