Because the west is Russias biggest oil customer buying and have been guaranteed to supply new military equipment and supplies to the Eu/nato members who “donated”their stockpiles to Ukraine

Ukraine confronting Russia or attempting "strategic defeat" of the Russians would always lead to this, not least the likelihood of Russia being successful and/or not backing down. Surely why diplomacy should not have failed which preceded the fighting.

NATO is using Ukrainian soldiers as simply proxies. Not to defeat Russia but to only weaken it. But it didn’t turn out that way. Russia is now stronger than all of NATO.
