these two always lock horns ;-)...in the group game 7 days earlier team USA had beaten the Russians 90:80, but this was total domination by Russia, close to perfection: rebound control, ball movement, shot precision, game over after 30 min.....However, 2 yrs. later in the semifinals of the Olympic basketball tournament in Beijing, they met again....different story then...

This game is such a time capsule for women's hoops fans, CP missed that shot inside that would have cut it to a possession with enough time left, but the comeback wasn't to be, just noticed there were only a couple of straight players on the squad 😂😂😂, no forced DEI propaganda needed back then!!
