STORY OF GETTING MY CAT:
Before getting my Russian Blue, I did look into adoption a cat/kitten from a local shelter, but also looked at other popular pedigree/purebred breeds, like the Ragdoll, British Shorthair, Maine Coon, Bengal, Devon Rex, Munchkin, Sphynx (naked/hairless cat), Abyssinian, American Shorthair and Persian. These are some of the best cat breeds out there.
I finally decided I wanted a hypoallergenic cat. I went online to find a good cat breeder. Luckily I found a breeder near me, who got a kitten for sale and got in touch with them. Finally I got him on a beautiful Sunday.
RUSSIAN BLUE CAT FACTS/101:
Russian Blues are considered hypoallergenic cats and good for people with allergies. They produce a lot less of the Fel d1 and Fel d4 protein which causes the allergic reaction, but it doesn't mean you won't get a allergic reaction. Keep this in mind when you decide you want a Russian Blue. Visit a breeder or cattery, if possible, to see if you get an allergic reaction.
If you're wondering is a Russian Blue is the right cat for me, well their personality is different per cat. None is the same. Russian Blue characteristics cannot be defined in my opinion. For example, my kitten will come to check out new visitors and is curious about them. According to the characteristics found on the Internet this should not happen.
You also have variations in color. There also are blue point Russian Blues and they also come in black. I have a slight preference for a blue/grey one.
PRICE:
Unfortunately a Pedigree/purebred cat doesn't not come for free or a small price. The sale price for this kitten was €900. You might get lucky and find one in a shelter, but changes are slim.

I’ve raised, met & rescued many cats & kittens. The Russian Blue is a special breed❣️ I have 3 with me, rescued feral’s. My li’l boy Blue, has become my most cherished child. My green eyed girl, Gigi; is slowing beginning to trust. Shadow chooses to remain outside😔, yet fearful. I rescued their sister Willow, 1st. She lost an eye & struggled with a respiratory infection- & all of the side effects. One eye was surgically removed. She now resides in a loving home with friends to play with😻 They have such beautiful personalities, so playful, kind & accepting of all life❣️ I am blessed to have each of them in my life.

Gorgeous cat! I found this video as I’m considering getting a cat and I think a Russian blue might be the right breed for me. The only thing making me hesitate at the moment is the potential scratching of furniture (I have a leather couch and some antique furniture..).

Hi Eleni, Thank you! Yes, scratching will be something with cats. You need to learn them it is not ok to scratch your couch by saying NO loudly and clap in your hands. Also make sure you have enough scratchers If this doesn't work, a water bottle is, in my opinion a good option. There are a lot of people including Jackson Galaxy who think you should not do this, personally, for me, it worked like a charm. He hasn't jumped on the kitchen counter and scratched the couch, at least not when I am around, since using the water bottle. He's now only using one of his many scratchers. I have more videos on my channel stick around for more. καλή τύχη!

How expensive was everything? in getting a kitten too soon but I kinda have to do so on a budget, also i don’t have the most space in my house for cat furniture and stuff so it’s been sort of frustrating

Everything was quite expensive as I wanted good stuff. Cats need vertical space to climb, so a cat tree is a must. If you don't get this, it might climb your curtains a lot. If you are on a budget I would definitely not skimp on good food. You can make your own cat tree. I myself has paid up to 1500 dollars (without the cost of the cat) on everything as of now. This includes 2 cat trees, premium food(Orijen & Ziwipeak), a litter Robot 3, deworming, toys, etc.... Really make sure that you can afford a cat. It's like having a child. If it get sick, you need to be able to pay the vet. Let me know how it goes with your kitten.

Hi James, Thank you! Yes, Neji is a Russian Blue, although it's more a grey color. Yeah, you need decent scratchers, otherwise the furniture is going to get destroyed. Agreed! We do spoil them, but they are like children aren't they?

Gorgeous kitty ❤ I’ve had my eye on these cats for a while. I love their little personalities but I am allergic to cats but heard they are hypoallergenic?
