Hi! i'm thinking of getting a Russian blue boy just like yours. How much does he scratch the furniture and does he shed? I've heard they don't much.

He does sometimes, but working from home I can correct him as he's growing up. You have to teach him to use his scratchers. When you seem him scratching furniture Say NO and clap in your hands. Then proceed to bring him to his scratch tree to make him understand to use that. I also started to cut his nails a week after I got him. That might also help with the furniture. I also made sure he has enough scratching furniture, you can also buy cardboard scratching furniture which is not expensive. Because if he has no alternatives, he will use your furniture. When it comes to shedding, he doesn't shed a lot, but I read it is also what you give them to feed. If they get cheap foods like whiskas and sheba they will shed a lot more. Get him/her quality food. Let me know when you have him/her.

@@kimbarcelona8549 Hi Kim, From day one I started to touch his paws, not in a playful way, but gently. Also I wait when he falls asleep. When this happens he's groggy and let me cuts them. I would advise starting as young as possible to get him accustomed to the clippers. Make sure you don't cut into the pink part of the nail, as this will hurt your cat and make him fear the clippers. Do this when you have enough light and can see the pink part in his/her nail. If you hit this, it will bleed. If you're hesitant, some vet do clip the nails. Good luck!
