Great stuff! Very informative. I wrote about the T-15 last year. Maneuver Warfare, the T-15 Terminator was designed to be able to lay down heavy effective suppressing fire from a distance, right behind the tanks, as they get right up to an enemy trench line, Then Russian Mechanized Infantry IFV's come up and deploys their squads out, as both the tanks, and the Terminators, are lighting up any suspected enemy position or hard point in their sector of fire. They also tested it in Syria from my reading. Russians saw how effective the Shilka was in urban combat, but was completely vulnerable due to no armor protection. Russians also saw how effective 30mm cannons are at engaging targets from a distance in support of unit operations. The elevation capability of the T-15 is what makes it useful in Urban Combat. It can engage target almost directly overhead. A tank is vulnerable because the main gun elevation is limited due to the space needed for main gun recoil. It is also completely NetCentric and designed to function within that system. If we see many more of the Terminators in the Field, it could mean that the REAL Russian Army is at the front and getting ready to launch its offensive operations. Soon IMHO.

Only the BMP-T 1 had grenade launchers and removed on the BMP-T 2 altogether. The Russian army is still playing around with the vehicle and its doctrine. What we see of it is limited real combat trails. There is barely enough of them to support a company of tanks operating in a city.

I am not sure how forward thinking this vehicle is. One point is that its guns may be too small, especially given up and coming generations of direct fire support platforms pushing towards bigger calibers in order to increase range given advances in ammunition and fire control systems. So maybe this concept needs to be tweaked considerably. First thoughts are that a 50mm plus gun could make more sense, especially beyond urban environments. Furthermore, the BMP-Term seems to have a somewhat poor record in UKR, so wish the author or others could set that record straight. Although the video seems like a promo of sorts, still very insightful and essential for discussing the prospects for this vehicle. Thanks.

The target detection range is 12 km or 7.46 miles, there are both automatic grenade launchers and anti-tank missiles on board, past automatic guns, a volley of which no armored vehicles in the world can withstand, so everything is fine there with both firepower and range

Very interesting weapon. One question though is with two large caliber guns (30MM) firing very close to each other, wouldn't that negatively impact the accuracy of each gun giving the shockwave moving the other barrel slightly? Perhaps the guns are timed for sequential fire but watching the video they move around quite a bit when firing. Granted this is not a sniper rifle I get it. Just curious really.

I t is not a bad approach if it is a specialized armor fighting vehicle within armored formations... with twin 30mm 2a,42 rapid firing heavy machine guns, pkt 7.62mm light machine gun, coupled with four anti-armor/anti-material guided missiles, I think it is a great addition to the battlefield. although the new Russian t-15 ifv equipped with the same turret and can conduct a similar combat duties and military roles, with the ability to carry an additional infantry soldiers, but since it is a ifv, it theoretically comes with a less level of armor than the hull of the the main battle tank beside comes with higher profile or the height of the platform making the ifv more exposes to enemy fires from all direction, but modern ifvs can be equipped with additional armor sets but usually at the price of the mobility. On the other hands, there are large surpluses of old Soviet tanks, instead of manufacturing new platform from scratch, it is enough to add additional armor to the hull of the tank to increase the protection, and they can also be equipped with new engines and gearbox systems, then equipped with this turret. regarding the turret I think its a new thus it will grow overtime to accommodate additional armor... although this armored fighting vehicle afv is a closed metal box with no needs to accompanying infantries, it lacks hard and soft kill systems that might improve its chances of survivability, especially against anti-armor munitions from distances exceeding 300 metres...

If it would have been available to use in Afghanistan in the 80s they could have been decisive. But it's not fighting illiterate poorly equipped tribal peasant with no formal training shooting down at them from a cliff with a WW1 Lee Enfield or captured AK 47. They could also have been good in Chechnya. Today in the Ukraine war, it's just as vulnerable as the Russian tanks of which Russia has lost 2082 as of today 9/29/23 as counted by Oryx. The war has been going on for 580 plus days, they loose between 3 to 4 tanks per day on average. If they are put in the front line of battlefield how long would 23 (now only 21) of them last? And instead of a 3 man crew the T 73 had, these have a 5 man crew. They will not provide any real strategic advantage to Russia in this conflict. If Russia had air dominance or even air superiority things might be different, but in this "Special Military Operation" нет! They're just a propaganda piece, and another poptop Ivan cooker if sent to the front.

It looks cool as there are two huge cannons, but is probably a big pile of garbage. It has two large cannons because they couldn't find a way of using one cannon that can swap between ammunition types. So one cannon fires one ammo type and the other cannon is loaded with a different ammo type. As there are two large cannons, they couldn't find a way of enclosing them in an armoured turret, so they are massively vulnerable to 12.5mm maching gun fire, never mind any sort of anti tank weapons.

@@VunderGuy the Ukrainians weren’t the aggressor, hence why being unprepared is forgivable. Russia on the other hand planned the conflict, knew the terrain and entered knowing their faulty equipment would have to change. They could have had another 30% success had they made the changes before entering. That’s like planning a road trip on an engine that’s going bad, knowing you have to replace it soon, then being surprised when it blows up on you mid trip costing you your trip time.

@@4oh8cal Have you? Russian lines have only been receding, not advancing. The most useful thing on them are their thermal cameras. The dual cannons may look cool but are not as useful. First off, they're not stabilized. Second, they're set up as dual cannons because the Russians failed to develop a reliable dual-feed mechanism for canon/guns to switch from HE or AP rounds. So they instead just put AP for one gun and HE in the other and set the guns in alternating fire mode.

Sounds powerful but how impactful can they be if there are only 23 and they are supposed to be deployed 2 per tank? If Russia really thinks they are so great, why aren't there more? With such small numbers sounds like this is an experimental platform.

Considering there's only 23 BMPT's that were built and only 10 have been sent to Ukraine with 2 having been destroyed so far, I don't think this is the panacea cure for Ruzzia's battlefield woes. Add that to Ruzzia's current manufacturing woes and these weapon systems aren't easily replaced. Nor do they have enough of them to make any significant impact in the overall war.

@@aguilayserpiente I haven't got time to write an essay on how Russia re-defined how not to fight a war. Lack of ability to replace lost equipment in anything resembling a timely manner. Loss of countless experienced combat troops and relying more and more on poorly trained, ill-equipped, unmotivated conscripts. The rampant corruption that has hollowed out Russia's military-industrial complex. Inability for units within the Russian army to plan and equip up for military operations at the start of the war. I mean c'mon dude, when you're bringing up 70 year old tanks (T-54/55s) to fight, you're not doing well. When you're supposed to be a military super power and you can't even gain local air superiority against the poorest country in Europe, you're not doing well. When the only unit (Wagner PMC) that has accomplished anything for you in the war turns on you, you aren't doing well. When you have to go running to North Korea, the short-bus of nation states for help, you definitely are NOT doing well. When the country that's supposed to be your best buddy agrees to sell you some crappy equipment but otherwise decides to not get involved, you're not doing well. When you've lost half your attack copter force, you're not doing well. When you're forced to put old tires on your bombers to "protect" them from attack because you store them outside, you're not doing well. Shall I continue?
