My conspiracy theory about Ivan IV's library is that it was really just a bookcase in his room, and its size was greatly exaggerated for propaganda purposes to depict Ivan as a scholar This may be unrelated to the iceberg, but the story behind Irkutsk's coat of arms is pretty amusing

Ivan was a scholar though, he was one of the most prolific writers on politics and religion in his time.

@@vardekpetrovic9716 Until 1497, a peasant could freely change the landlord. Serfdom was introduced in Russia in 1592. And it was finally introduced only in 1649. How could it be strong if it didn't exist yet? Сringe propaganda about the progressive west and the barbaric east VS 1 min in google.

Serfdom in England lasted from the 7th-8th century to the 14th. At the same time, slavery existed until the 19th century. Until the 14th and 15th centuries, there was no institution of serfdom in Russia, as there was no institution of slavery, for example, although slavery was present in the Novgorod Republic. Feudalism appeared in Russia quite late. Serfdom as an institution appeared only in the 15th century and lasted until the 19th century. Together with the USSR, this is a maximum of 5 centuries. Against 7-6 in England. Not considering the institution of slavery. And yes, Ivan the Terrible is considered a tyrant in Russia. By his order, according to various estimates, from 15 to 30 thousand people died. His sculpture is not even on the monument to the Millennium of Russia. Nevertheless, as many were killed on St. Bartholomew's Night as during his entire reign. And by decree of Elizabeth I, 89,000 people were executed in England.

@@vardekpetrovic9716 I wrote that there was slavery. But there was no institution of slavery, like in the USA, Great Britain or the Roman Empire. And what millions are we talking about? At that time, the population of Rus' numbered barely >10 million. The average population of the city was ~500 people, and the village ~50.

@@vardekpetrovic9716 I took numbers from wiki. And the difference with the aztecs is that for them it was the norm, it was part of their culture. This was also the norm for the japanese of that time. However, they still deny the Nanjing massacre. While Ivan the Terrible, as I have already said, is considered a terrible tyrant and he is not on the monument to the Millennium of Russia, the only one of all the tsars. Wiki: "Among the statesmen, there is no image of Ivan the Terrible (as a symbol of despotism), although three of his confidants are present: first wife Anastasia Romanovna, A. F. Adashev, Protopop Sylvester."

Love your content, though i was wondering if you would consider putting the bits of info/trivia you include somewhere else on the screen? When they are at the bottom of the screen they often get obscured by the subtitles if they are turned on which make them very hard to read, if they were placed near the top i think it could help a lot.
@Setarko
@Setarko Жыл бұрын
Never thought about that tbh. I was kinda used to the fact that since these are called "lower thirds" they should obviously go to the lower third. But I tried that with subtitles on and realized that they do obscure the text. And since 30% of my viewers watch my videos with subtitles on...yeah, I think I will experiment a bit with the placement in my next videos.

About Metro-2: im Dmitry Yurkov's book "Soviet Secret Bunkers" there are indirect evidence from declassified documents from the 1960s that construction of tunnels not related to the main metro system was carried out near the General Staff building on Frunzenskaya Embankment; soil subsidence occurred during construction. Also we know about the tunnel in front of the Sportianaya metro station, which goes under the Moscow River and through the Vorobyvy Hills to mysterious "object 54" (probably famous underground city in Ramenki)

The black Volga also has this sad backsory in Hungary. In the 50s the communist secret police used black Volgas to abduct people. They abducted my great-grandpa this way, and then they tortured him. In hungarian culture, the black Volga is not just a creepy story, but a symbol of oppression.

too diverse. there are 20-storey 200-meter-long human-anthill (человейники) for tens of thousands people, where in the courtyards sunlight is never seen. but most of them are nice. but too expensive, you know... why there is such a thing as a housing crisis, i don't understand? they're building this all over the place, it's like mushrooms after rain. at the same time old building are not being abandoned... how can it be: the population is declining, the number of houses is growing, but a man cannot get himself an apartment?
@ytdanytevero
@ytdanytevero Жыл бұрын
@@mapoch9000 in Russia there is a partial reason for building these, and that’s maybe the fact that the urban population is growing there, unlike in other places like Romania, where even the Urban population (Except for Bucharest) is decreasing, but these kind of buildings are still build (not that massive, but still). And personaly, I like these buildings (when they are build corectly) because I’m a fan of the ideea of population density.

@@ytdanytevero urban population is growing in half of cities at most. i'm not against big buildings either, but you should remain sane - living at first floors in this huge clusters is like living in some cyberpunk underground. plus, old soviet infrastructure is not capable of dealing with such amount of private cars and etc...

The black Volga story here, in Hungary was pretty popular as well, though I don't know to what extent because here the Soviet presence was really high but I didn't lived during that an my only relative who still lives today never talked avout it. But I know for sure that its name was changed to ÁVO in this country. Which standa for 'Államvédelmi osztály', roughly translated to English: State Defence Class (SDC), the successor of the 1945 founded 'Államvédelmi Hatóság' or State Defence Authority (SDA)

@@madfreacmocrazi6093 appreciation is somebody simply enjoying a thing for it's own worth/beauty. Simping is when you overtly pay compliments in the hope's of receiving a reward back, I.e - a beautiful woman's attention, or central and western africans waving russian flags and talking about their 'beautiful language' in the hope of getting some of the money that the Kremlin is throwing in that direction and backing it up with the 'gentle persuasion' of Russian Private military contractors on the Wagner model. Conspiracy about Tsar Peter, "Real Russia" and Tartaria is much wider. There is group of people in Russia and in other countries, that believe Tartaria was actually real Russia and not Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorp Romanov occupied West Russia. They say, that Mongol invasion of Rus was never a thing but it was actually very long civil war between West influenced Russia with capital in Moscow (later St.Petersburg) versus independent, Tartary Russia with capital in Tobolsk in East. In this theory there is huge mish mash of other conspiracies, like i.e. "real Russia" was Rodnovery (Slavic neo-pagans), that base their roots from ancient Vedic faith.
