What NATO and the West need to keep in mind constantly is that there are a lot of regions that really want out of the Russian Federation. Only fear of reprisals from Moscow keeps them in it. But if Moscow can be shown to be too weak to attack them then some could be tempted to secede. Once one or two do this we could well see an avalanche in seceding regions, which would put an end to Putin's evil empire once and for all. This in fact is one of Putin's biggest fears.
@johnny_eth Жыл бұрын
Many of those region are in central asia, and have small populations which cannot mount any kind of opposition to the orcs. In addition, Putin has used this war to purge a lot of young adult men from those regions. Those regions are even more underpowered now. their only hope is for the regime in Moscow to collapse so they can try to claim their independence peacefully.

They say the people of Britain are so impoverished that they are eating squirrel. The very fact that they are stating that in their news means that to Russians, that is believable. The tendency of the West is to believe that most Russians do not believe that. The balance of costs has shifted to where the planes are the scarce resource. In WW2 it cost £4k to build a Spitfire and £20k to train a pilot. More recently it has been approx £20m to build a plane and around £4m to train a pilot. A lot of this is profiteering by the peacetime MIC, but there's no easy way to circumvent this cost without shifting our economies to a full-scale war footing.

The US approved transfer of Danish and Dutch F16's to Ukraine... but they have only 80 total. Those 80 won't all be transferred until 2026 or 27 until all F35's they purchased are delivered. Immediately both nations have 26 to transfer (10 for the Danes, 16 Dutch) ... 54 are still operational within their Air forces. They will be transferred to Ukraine as the F35s arrive. So, all 80 F16s won't be in Ukraine hands for a few more years. Ukraine also wants a total of 120... so another 40 will have to come from somewhere else. So, the F16s are not going to have huge impact in this counteroffensive - especially in the short term. In a few years, with perhaps 120+ modernized and well equipped F16's (or other western fighter jets in the mix) Russia will have very serious problems with the Ukrainian AF... but not in 2023 or early 2024.

I'd expect Ukraine to receive about 12 F-16s in 2024. Only 10% of the number it wants.

Why would Russia have very serious problems with the Ukrainian AF if it has hundreds of more capable (than F16) fighter jets and thousands of various integrated SAMs?
@timonsolus Жыл бұрын
@@IliyaOsnovikov : Exaggerated numbers. The Russian air force has several responsibilities, and the war in Ukraine is only the most important one. Russia can’t commit every single aircraft and missile it has to Ukraine - to do so would leave the Federation’s other borders unprotected. Try dozens of jets and hundreds of SAMs.

Imagine the planes carrying them getting through Russia's integrated air defence. No, I can't either.

And leaving their supplies behind. If the paratroopers are not relieved by ground forces in short order, they will run out of ammo and food and die en masse. Also, the Ruzzians cannot fly aircraft and helicopters with getting them shot down. How will the Ukrainian paratroopers get to Crimea? Amazon Prime?

It would be a slaughter like the British defense of Crete. The one or two surviving Ukrainians might be able to raise a flag. Temporarily.

If you are not speaking your first language it's a good idea not to mumble. Not worth watching when you can only catch every third word. What a shame, I'm sure it would have been interesting.

I really dislike ridiculous headlines. It’s no better than saying the UK”s borders are undefended against Eire. Even if it was a statement of fact, it hardly leaves the Russian federation exposed. These two are the main bastions of their political dogma, they are not going to attack each other without severe provocation. Neither of them are likely to make that provocation. I am fast loosing any respect I may have for this KZbin channel. It’s only saving grace is the content isn’t as poor as the headline.

I read about 30 years ago that Siberia is populated by more Chinese Han than Russians. And that Chinese officials displayed on their walls maps showing China owning about a third of Siberia.
