I submit that, just like nearly every country in the world, I believe (and know, to a large degree) that those Russians being forced to invade a state for no damn reason also oppose these atrocities, in concert with the MAJORITY of their fellow Russians citizens. That fact is pretty clear to most outsiders, thus they don't hold their aggressions out on most Russians; certainly not on civilian airplane pilots. The lone aggressor in this conflict is an autocratic head of Russia named Putin.

A recent Mentour Now video suggests that's the easy bit. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6PKemedd5qKaNE There are huge difficulties for the Russians keeping their planes maintained, due to needing parts that are not produced in Russia. Also Aeroflot might be refecting that it was unwise of them to build one of their mantenance facilities in Germany. If the Ukraine invasion lasts as long as the Iraq invasions did then Aeroflot won't have enough planes fit to fly even an internal service.

@@frapoHC666 all it takes is one country to act nationalistically to ruin a globalist system. Nationalistic priorities are more robust at protecting your own people from the malice or greed of other nations, which is why every nation NEEDS a certain amount of nationalism. Without it, you have instability, and vulnerability. China was able to take advantage of global markets because they prioritized their own people, their own interests over the rest of the globe. They prioritized taking actions that benefit them to take, not ones if returned in kind would benefit them, and due to the desire of the global economy, an inherently globalist system of institutions, they were not cut off or treated in kind early enough to prevent the dominating influence of the Chinese economy, much of which is nationalized, or by law required to have arms of the communist party within them. As much as I agree that it's great for safety-focused organizations to disregard flag or ideology, government and politics are entirely different. Your world would be different too if American Air did shit like intentionally leak fuel ahead of competitor flights to cause flameouts and other engine failures, and your only way to stop them was to dismantle the company to which a large percentage of their employees would take up arms and die for, leaving aside the nuclear elephant in the room.

I appreciate the fact that despite the geopolitics that are obviously at the forefront, ATC and the pilots were still professional and doing their jobs without drama. These may be Russian aircraft, but they're commercial airliners with civilians of who knows how many other countries on board, and it's still everyone's job to ensure they travel safely and land on the ground in one piece, regardless of restrictions. It would also be logical to assume that if one of these Aeroflot planes had to declare an emergency, airspace restrictions are overruled at that point to ensure preservation of life.

@@user-yx7mn6hb9i I guess if you are fool and believe RT! The responsibility for investigation was delegated to the Dutch Safety Board (DSB) and the Dutch-led joint investigation team (JIT), who concluded that the airliner was downed by a Buk surface-to-air missile launched from pro-Russian separatist-controlled territory in Ukraine.[6][7] According to the JIT, the Buk that was used originated from the 53rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade of the Russian Federation[8][9] and had been transported from Russia on the day of the crash, fired from a field in a rebel-controlled area and the launch system returned to Russia afterwards.[1][2][8] The findings by the DSB and JIT are consistent with the earlier claims by American and German intelligence sources[10][11] and claims by the Ukrainian government.[12] On the basis of the JIT's conclusions, the governments of the Netherlands and Australia held Russia responsible for the deployment of the Buk installation and were pursuing legal routes as of May 2018.[13][14] The Russian government denied involvement in the shooting down of the airplane,[9][15][16] and its account of how the aircraft was shot down has varied over time.[17] Coverage in Russian media has also differed from that in other countries

I'm not really for any of this mess, however, it is pretty clear the 225 was damaged/scuttled as the Ukrainians were pushed out of the airport. There is actually video of the heli assault on that airport and they were trying to keep it intact to use it. Ukrainians put up a fight and a counterattack, attempting to retake it then to deny its use. Russian forces control it to this day I believe. I suppose its possible the Russian forces attacked that hanger, and only that hanger, as they were assaulting. But it's more likely it was hit as the Ukrainians were trying to disable the airport.

I'm curious why the authorities didn't exempt flights that were already in the air at the time NOTAM R was issued? Many of those might not've had enough fuel to divert to another country while staying outside Canadian airspace the whole time (for instance, flights from Russia over the pole to destinations in the Midwestern U.S., which'd otherwise've flown down across the middle of Canada into the U.S., would've had to circle all the way around the side of Canada, taking a much more circuitous route that could easily add many hours to their flight time).

Why the heck is USA still allowing Russian aircraft? Banned in Canada, UK and Europe but they can still fly round and use US airspace. Come on USA, get with the programme, and help Ukraine.

@@bcdm999 it's more complicated than just 'we' vs 'them'. There are more than just a few russians who disagree with the war and want nothing to do with it. Probably most people involved with those flights that are being rerouted that their country just chills the f out so they can just do their job in peace.

@@Bizness10 I think "The Legacy"s question was more about the time between the release of the NOTAM and the time it taking effect. It's not impossible that you're already midair when the NOTAM is getting out and by the time you're likely to hit the FIR-border you're not longer allowed to enter.

I am not a pilot so I didn’t understand enough to know, what was done so these pilots could get fuel to either turn back or go to an airport that was still open at the time? I can’t imagine anyone would have considered putting them and all their passengers in an unsafe situation.
@sunnyyan1080
@sunnyyan1080 2 жыл бұрын
Aeroflot and/or the pilots would have anticipated this closure and would probably have taken extra fuel. Even if they didn't, these flights probably would still have enough fuel for ~11 hours, which would be plenty for finding an airport en-route. Also, no country would let a plane run out of fuel like that. As seen in the video, there was a number the airline could call to ask for an exemption. Apparently AFL111 seen at the start of this video was granted an exemption.
