This is a solo performance by Bobby Hatfield, the tenor half of The Righteous Brothers. Bill Medley was the baritone member who you can hear and see on You've Lost That Loving Feeling and Soul and Inspiration. Bobby died in 2003 I believe but Bill is still performing at 81 years old!
@goodintentions13022 жыл бұрын
And it's a solo because unfortunately Bill Medley didn't think it'd be a hit, so he didn't participate. The video with Andy Williams shows him saying in answer to Andy's question "What do you do when Bobby sings..." He said "I go in the corner & kick myself as much as I can!"

@ridgemanron2 жыл бұрын
@@gregharnist9642 She takes too many short cuts. It tells me she can't provide the same immense, soul tingling presentation by Hadfield, but even better singers than her couldn't either. Angelina Jordan doesn't take short cuts and stays 'on point' with Bobby's version, but one problem is that it really is a masculine type vocal song. I would give Angelina a chance to go further up from the high '90's plus %' level her version reached, but Bobby's masculine tones are just unattainable by female voices. Even Elvis couldn't match Bobby's version, so that should tell you something about how really great Bobby's rendition was.

this was live, no mixers , no auto tune. no computers. just pure talent. the song was written in the 50,s for a crappy movie. Bobby sang it for the guys going to Nam. lonely river flows to the sea ,is the ride over there, he,s asking his girl to wait for him, I'll be coming home. on a personal note if he loves you, if you want to dump him, plz don't do it when Hes in combat. you couldn't hurt him worse if you shot him in both knees. it makes it very hard on his brothers to keep him alive when he doesn't care. he should be focusing on what hes about to step on. not who his girl is screwing, lie to him and when hes home, then , do him a favor, dump him

This is my first time reviewing your channel. However, I have followed the Bobby Hatfield (Unchained Melody) reactions all over KZbin. Your loss of words (in any language) is perfectly understandable. This song had the same effect on thousands of women over the years. You might know, or certainly can look up on the internet, what American "Soul Music" was. Back in the day this song was recorded the car radios were mostly AM radios (not stereo) and of course there was no social media. People learned by word of mouth. Anyway, many folks back in the day thought the Righteous Brothers were a black group. When people found out otherwise they were somewhat shocked. They became known as "Blue-Eyed Soul" back in the day. This song is as popular today as it was 50/yrs ago. The lyrics, the melody and Bobby's voice make it truly one-of-a-kind. As such, this song will forever withstand the test of time. Why? Because "Class" never goes out of style. Glad you enjoyed it.

There were many covers of this song written in the 1950s, but Bobby's is the best. He was actually sick with a cold during this performance, and still nailed it. He was so driven to perfection that he did multiple takes of the song while recording it, and was saying that he needed to do another take, when his partner Bill who had been playing piano, said NO. That one is great. Stop. And that last take was put on the record and was a huge hit. Bill was not Bobby's biological brother, he was a soul brother. Listen to some other songs by them to catch both voices.

Hope you are fine honey. God Bless. This was from A US Show called The Andy Williams Show from 1965 that The Osmonds were on as backing performers from 1962-1969. Bobby is singing this Solo since he won a Coin Toss and it is next to "I Only Have Eyes For You" and "Blue Moon" one of The Best Rock Interpretations in terms of a Standard. As part of The Righteous Brothers he had other hits like "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" and "Soul & Inspiration". Sadly when he and Bill Medley (His Partner) fell on hard times they gave up their rights. Big Mistake because when it was featured on The US Show The Wonder Years (1988-1993) and movies like Top Gun & Ghost, they didn't get paid. Bobby would run a Restaurant and would die of Heart Disease due to an addiction to Cocaine.
