Lisa you may be surprised to know that we Americans have invented a chemical to quickly remove grout. It is called . In America it comes in a translucent orange spray bottle. Simply go into in the Solaris mall and ask for TILEX. Squirt it on all over your tiles and leave it on (don’t wipe it off) for two hours. The grout will be gone.

That was such an amazing hardware store with so much choice! Your landlady must be delighted that you have transformed the flat from soviet style to something that is very chique (chic). By the way, bicarbonate of soda is a good product for cleaning grime, and white vinegar can be used to dissolve limescale. Wishing you a Happy Easter. 🐇🐤 🌸

Quite a good shopping haul. Being able to reduce your rent by renovation is very good. The correct name in English for the cement between tiles is GROUT.

If you want to apply any kind of paint in the bathroom, I recommend rubber paint It's like normal paint, but it's made with rubber So it's very good against humidity

Good luck with your renovations, Lisa! 😊 I think its better to use some bleach or even simple soda+vinegar to remove that grease between tiles in your bathroom instead of painting :) Also I dont really trust all those bathtub paints (tried a couple of times but usually they are good for only a year or so) but if it is a Soviet apartment with a 120 kg cast iron bath its probably the only affordable way to do something (there are also acrylic inserts but I never used them personally).

Hi Lisa, it is normal for the grout to get dirty. It’s slightly porous and water from the shower does not drain away fully, building up mildew over time. Shower cleaners with a soft brush will have your bathroom tiles looking fresh again. I would not paint the grout. It’s better the remove and replace the old grout, if you want to change the colour, let’s say from white to beige or grey. Удачи 🍀

I also love walking round home shops.Those grouting pens are really good for when the grouting starts to get a bit grimy.The name will likely be "grout",kind of cement for tiling..You did an awesome job on your flat,its unrecognisable as it was when you moved in.

To keep the gout from getting moldy you can use a wiping towel to wipe dry the wet tile wall after shower.

Cement for between tiles is grout in English. From American diyer… go ahead and seal that grout as well to keep it looking great! Best wishes for your new apartment.

Bleach those tile grout mold and mildew stains. Then seal. Spray bottle. 50/50 bleach and water. Let sit overnight. Repeat with a scrub pad (use gloves). Let dry then seal with grout sealer.

The material between tiles is called grout in english. your tiles need to be re grouted meaning you have to sand or dig out the old material with a small scrapper without scratching or marking the tiles then clean let dry then apply new grout with a wet sponge over joints let dry wash then seal it to be water proof it is very easy to do with patience and good instruction its the only way to fix that. A bag of grout white color a sponge and bottle of sealer a small bucket for mixing grout with water is all you need

The discolouration is maybe caused by a common black fungus from being damp. The usual fix is a foaming bleach which kills it off. Couldn't see how porous or gritty the old grout was but getting a smooth finish from your other purchase should help. The other way is to kill the fungus with UV light, it's a thing now. It will produce ozone so never stick around when it's on. You were a bit vague on whether it was paint remover or paint cleaner. If it removes paint it will be very corrosive so take take and wear safety glasses as well as gloves...,.and good luck.

If the surface of the walls and doors are damaged. Instead if going for a smooth painted surface and sticking adhesive paper. Try painting with rough textured/embossed skin paint rollers. They will leave a pretty textured surface and possibly hide the wall and doors imperfections. And you can do it the color you want.
