PHONETIC SYMBOLS
" ' " - accent or soft sound symbol
1) if it is above a letter, it denotes a stressed vowel sound.
Example : í- stressed / i- unstressed
2) if it is next to a consonant letter, it denotes a soft consonant sound:
Example : s'- soft / s- hard
":" - a colon after a consonant, means that it is double, like a doppia in Italian;
/ɨ/ - vowel sound, corresponding to the letter Ы;
/i̯'/ - consonant sound, identical to the sound in English in the word “you”;
/e/ - closed vowel sound /е/, like the two sounds in French in the word “sécher /seʃe/ to dry”;
/x/ - consonant sound, identical to the sound in English in the word “heart”;
/ʒ/ - consonant sound, similar to the sound in French in the word “je- /ʒə/- yo”;
/ʃ/ - consonant sound, identical to the sound in English in the word “should- /ʃʊd/- should”
/ʃ'/ - consonant sound, corresponding to the letter Щ.
