Wow!! Good to see this series. The BBC used to make a lot of programmes like this before everything got dumbed down.

Too true - so many of these brilliant language series they did - Digame, Deutsche Direkt, Buongiorno Italia, A vous la France.....then they decided only sad people watch this kind of thing

@@stefanufer608 Trouble is, so few Brits ever bother with languages. I picked up Portuguese quickly but never studied it formerly.

@@stefanufer608 Portuguese is a language not offered at schools/colleges but I picked up a lot of the language recently.

Watched the original for first few programmes. Will watch all of the episodes now and finally learn some simple Russian. Loved this series. Brilliant then and still brilliant now. Presenters are fabulous.

This is amazing! Incredible you have the whole series, and thank you so so much for uploading it all: this has been out of sight for years. And you have European It's a Knockout. And you're a Geordie by the looks of things, like me. Can't wait to see what else you've got in your collection. Thanks once again Mick

Oh wow... I remember seeing this on PBS when I was young, and could only barely remember anything beyond a general idea of the intro and some of the music used in it, but here it is. This show was my first glimpse into writing systems other than the Latin alphabet, and I've loved seeing how languages were written since.

Some words it seems are almost identical in English and Russian. This doesn't appear to be the case with the words War and Invasion though, which the Russians appear to call a Special Military Operation.

Not really, she's fine. She just has a funny combination of a Russian and British accent.
