How do so many people not realise that voters use their general election constituency vote as a proxy to elect their favourite party leader as prime minister... or to stop a leader becoming PM as in Corbyn's case... You are more correct concerning the swapping of leaders between GEs as the awful Tories have spectacularly done in recent times...

I don't understand why the opposition don't pick one of the other candidates and say "if you dont like Putin, vote for candidate A" If candidate A then gets 10% of the vote it is a sign to everyone else, reduces the isolationism. If candidate A only gets 0.5% you can then point to fraud in comparison to exit polling.

This strategy actually has already been introduced by one of the prominent opposition figures Maksim Katz. Not everyone is agree with him, the opposition even now find reasons to compete with each other rather than working on the united strategy, but at least the opposition is aware of such a device
