Spanish police say they believe the body of a man shot dead in the garage of an apartment building in Alicante is that of Russian helicopter pilot Maksim Kuzminov who defected to Ukraine last year. He was found dead on February 13 in the Spanish resort where he is belived to have been living. Kuzminov had said that opposition to the war is what made him conspire with Ukrainian intelligence to leave Russia. He reportedly also received around half a million dollars to do so.

@@dmytrognativ2163 "probably" "already" "killed" "many innocent Ukrainians" is not a fact. As you don't know what they actually did, you should not make such suppositions. Even the reportage sais that they were transporting fighter jets parts, so, rather probably they were transport pilots, not combat pilots. Even if they did killed people in war, that doesn't justify the killing, as it wasn't in combat or self defense, so it was still murder, doesn't make the defector innocent and killing them was just hypocrisy, as the defector said that he was against "killing each other".

The pilot’s treason resulted in the deaths of his two fellow crew members, who were “liquidated” during the operation, according to Ukrainian intelligence, which touted the defection as a major success. Spanish media reports identified the victim as a 33-year-old Ukrainian national, who had been seeking asylum in the country. Kuzminov would now be 28 years old, and it was not immediately known whether he had received Ukrainian citizenship. Unverified reports of the pilot’s death spread widely across Russian media, with some outlets reaching out to Spanish law enforcement for comment. RIA Novosti, for instance, said it inquired with Spain’s Guardia Civil on the matter, yet the national police agency was unable to confirm the death of the defector.
