At last, we shall study some more Russian prepositions - о, об and обо! In this lesson, I will give you all the basic translations of these prepositions and also explain the difference between the three. Today we will talk about the prepositions: O, Oб , and Oбo. Привет всем ! Добро пожаловать на русский со страстью. Сегодня поговорим о предлогах O, Oб , и Oбo. Privet vsem ! Dabro pazhalovat' na russkiy so strast'yu. Sevodnya pagavarim o predlogakh O, Ob , i Oba. Mostly they {O, Oб , and Oбo.} mean the same thing. They are just different variants of the same preposition “O”, and they are usually translated into English as: 1. ABOUT When you talk about something, think about something and so on. &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& O, Oб , and Oбo + prepositional case/accusative case &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& Mostly you are supposed to use the “pepositional case” after these prepositions, but sometimes we use the “accusative case”. 2. ON{ Subject of a book/report} These prepositions can also be translated as “ON”, when you talk about a subject of a book or a report, and so on. 3. AGAINST{a surface} These prepositions can also be translated as “against” when talking about surfaces. ★ “O”[Ho] Use “O” , when the following word starts with a consonant sound. For example: -To talk about a book. Говорить о книге. Gavarit' o knige. -To think about good things. Думать о хорошем. Dumat' o kharoshem. -TV program about animals. Передача о животных. Peredacha o zhivotnykh. -A video about food. Видео о еде* Video o yede*  ★ Notice that the word “едa”{food} starts with a vowel letter [e], but it starts with a consonant sound [ye]. So here we are talking about the sounds. “O” is used when the next word starts with a consonant sound. ★ Об[Ob] -About this airplane. Об этом самолёте . Ob etam samolyote . -To think about a game. Думать об игре. Dumat' ob igre. -To worry about the exam. Волноваться об экзамене. Valnovat'sya ob ekzamene. Об is also used in the meaning of “against or upon”. For example: -To throw something on the floor. Кинуть об пол Kinut' ob pol -To throw against the wall. Кинуть об стену. Kinut' ob stenu.  Here you use the accusative case. Об{against} + Accusative case -The ball hit the hand. Мячик ударился об руку. Myachik udarilsya ob ruku. Обо[oba] Is not very common, and it is used in some cases. -About everything Обо всём. Oba fsyom. -All about everything Обо всex. Oba fsex. -About me. Обо мне. Oba mne. -I hope now you understand when which option is used : “O/ оба/ обo.” Надеюсь сейчас вы понимаете когда какой вариант используется “O/ оба/или обo.” Nadeyus' seychas vy panimayete kagda kakoy variant ispol'zuyetsya “o ob ili oba.”

HI!!! great video! I have a doubt though... I thought обо was used when the word starts with 2 or more consonants. I would've said обо книге for example. Or обо профессии, обо квартире, обо проекте... These are not correct?

In English it would be better to say, "I fasted without being thirsty" or "I kept the fast without thirsting." Я не знаю как сказать по-Русский язык. I probably didn't say that right, but I do know English. ))
