Sabotage is an act of war. Any vessel seized in the act of committing sabotage, regardless of what flag flies at its masthead,is conducting a military operation and of course may be taken as spoils of war. The crew can be, and should be, taken as prisoners of war or perhaps foreign agents caught in an act of espionage.

No anchor on a ship gets dropped without the knowledge of the captain or first officer. If this happens they are involved and most likely take bribes. The ship must be confiscated so that the owners of the ships will no longer lease their properties to russian or russian allied parties, only this way can we 'force' shipowners to avoid any russian connections.

Why is it so difficult? Fishing boats if you are out of naval vessels, with search lights and cameras to see if they release an anchor. Along with watchtowers on the coast with lights and cameras, there would be no way they would be able to release their anchor and everyone not know it. It is not like there are ten thousand vessels leaving Leningrad. Put officers on each vessel coming from russia and escort them out of the Baltic. All kinds of ways to watch these vessels.

Would it be possible to treat the baltic as a port and have pilots take control of ships in and out from the straight between denmark and norway? This is already something done at all ports from what i know. So it would only mean boarding earlier and disembarking later = more hourly pay to these pilots. I realise this would cost more and the cost would likely pass down to the consumer (this will lead to some inflation) but the valet style parking and control over these ships could completly negate the risk of russian sabotage using civilian vessels

@@MKD-fe5vf Russia wants peace !!! They never wanted to start the war - they asked USA and Ukraine in December 2021 for talks on security issues, both refused. Russia wanted peace in March 2022 and conclude a for Ukraine favourable peace treaty, but USA/UK refused. Putin asked several times the last 3 years for peace negotiations, but USA played deaf and Zelensky forbid negotiations by Presidential decree and presented a delusional "victory- plan". So, who is to blame for not to want peace ?! Only the two crazy guys Biden and Zelensky!!!

It's very good idea to have this rule, to sell the ships and freight on auktion. It will hurt the ship owner and Russia. It will hurt the insurance company if there is one. And further more, EU and Nato countries have to establish the rule to make sanctions on the country that the ship is sailed under, until that country pays for repair and legal costs. And the crew should be put in custody as prisoners of war (not normal prison, but pow camp), and also get economic fine. All together these actions will take effect to all parts of the chain. The crew, the ship, the cargo, the insurance company, the owner, the flag nation and Russia too. And lastly. EU and Nato will have to establish rule that if anyone lower its anchor or other equipment in the nearby a cable, without contacting coast guard to get emergency permit, the ship, and all mentioned above will face all these consequences.

I find it very interesting that all these ships which has dragged their anchors on the Baltic cables, has at the same time also dragged them over the Russian cables and pipelines from Ust-Luga to Kaliningrad. I wonder why there has been no damage reports to them cables? Eagle S alone went over these cables 3 times before it was stopped by the Finns. The Kaliningrad cables must be cut already at this point. What do you think?
