The "skin" on the suppressor is a wrap so you don't burn your hand on it. Slowing down the gases to reduce sound imparts the heat of the gas to the suppressor not unlike the barrel. It gets hot AF. Source: USMC 12 years , infantry

also you will be harder to spot with thermal vision btw. Cause when you shoot with supressor it gets hot as was said and this wrap thing kinda covering that heat making you way more harder to spot with thermal
