Lily, you know how it rains "cats and dogs", (or even "stair rods" according to my Dad) ? Do you think there's an equivalent in Russian? Do you know of one in Italian? In Welsh it rains "old ladies and sticks" or "knives and forks". But rain only falls in Welsh, it doesn't " walk". Mae hi'n bwrw glaw. It's falling rain. Sorry, I promise the "w" s are vowels! Like "u" in "put"! This is why people think there are too few vowels in Welsh! 🤣 "Y" is a vowel too, which is fine though, as it is also in Russian and often in English ! 😁 Good luck with Paul! Also, a snowflake is " pluen eira ", a snow feather. When the flakes are so large and fall so slowly that they're like goose feathers falling from the sky. I love those days!❄❄❄ Bright winter sun and clear azure skies today. ☀️

@@sashaluna805 That's another synchronicity for the day as Rick and I discussed "Y" as a vowel in English (this morning!) 🔮 Thanks for the Welsh expression ! 🌧 The one that comes to mind in Italian is something like this: "Cielo a pecorelle, pioggia catinelle" 🐑-shaped ☁'s, 🌧 in 'basins' I think there's a version with " Sheepy Sky, rains 🐈🐈‍⬛🐱" I guess that's similar to our "raining cats and dogs?" So if you see "Sheepy Clouds" (fluffy roundish clouds) these tend to bring "basins of rain" (like how we say "buckets of rain".) I'm not sure, as it's been ages since I've heard it said !!! I don't know which version is the common one. I love the concept of "Sheepy Sky" as I have always referred to clouds as "the sheep of the sky". We have woolly sheep on the ground and fluffy sheep in the sky! 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑☁☁☁☁☁🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧

Hmm. попытка не пытка seems to have an almost literal parallel in English with "It can't hurt to try". I'm really loving these idioms and expressions this year! It gives us a taste of the richness of the language that I appreciate very much. ☺

Its odd how the word попытка and пытка are just slightly different but vast difference in meaning. I suppose its no different to the words skill and kill unless they have similar root. Very interesting regardless. Спасибо! )
