From the SDS this stuff looks a lot like another product I've used and if its the same stuff with your label on the side then its a A+ product. If so this stuff is used on fire hydrants, bridges, and train cars under a different label. It sticks to near everything as long as you degrease the surface really good. I like that you guys sale this stuff in pints too because it has a short shelf life once you crack the can open.

My opinion - Once the top coat has cured, coat the steel in Fluid Film for ultimate rust prevention.

Especially for all the nooks and crannies where the paint couldn’t get to. And boxed in frames. Love wool wax and fluid film. Surprised not many people know about them

This looks exactly like what my father would call "bridge paint" from his days working for a local township. They painted bridge steel with a very similar paint, very high in zinc, and it would look good for well over a decade. The paint was only available to state and local governments due to it's ingredients.

Hey I used the rust encapsulate on my 89 Chevy K5 Blazer. I was able to spray inside the quarter panels and rockers using the long spray wand. Worked out great. I’m going to get some Platinum for the front then chassis black over it. EastWood has excellent products.

Overall it's a good product but I swear I like to never got the lid off the can. I practically had to destroy it to get it off .What did they put it on with ? This isn't the only problem I've had with Eastwood products either. The chassis black was a pain in the butt too. The spray nozzle clogged constantly and I had to remove it and soak it in lacquer thinner between uses as it would not clear. I've used spray cans and never seen one clog so fast or easily as this one. The stuff is expensive so I should be able to use it all. It's like their cans are designed to be used all at once and that's it. Good products but they shouldn't be this hard to use.

Use 2 self tapping screws to puncture 2 holes on the lid, pour out what you need then put the screws back in the holes to seal it up again.

What can be used on a rusted (cleaned, prepped and so on) steel cooktop cover. Platinum says protects to 350 Deg F ... but then if someone puts on top coat ........ that can bun off easily from the propane flames. It would be great to make it last a while but I may have to replace the whole system.... 😞

If it's bare, clean rust free metal, you may want to consider Epoxy Primer. If it still has rust, Platinum would work. You can also talk to an Eastwood tech to fully explain your project to make sure you get the best products for your job. 800-343-9353

Is you internal rust calculator like a fish oil that creeps under spot weild lap joints or a cavity was that seals over the internal side of a lap joint. Or dose it dry hard or dosent have the filling properties of cavity was sealing over the lap joints. I personally use fish oil first then cavity wax about a week after painted and fish oiled. On all my classic and vintage automotive body what would you recommend all my rust repairs are cut out and done as if it was my car i was keeping for ever

Eastwood sell a rubberised version for underwood but if you want the best underwood protection then use Raptor products. I'm sure Eastwood would have something similar, go check out their KZbin video page or website.

Unlike most rust paints, Platinum will adhere very well to bare metal, but the best product would be Epoxy Primer. Here it is: www.eastwood.com/paints/automotive-finishes/primers/epoxy.html But if you have rusty areas, I highly recommend Rust Encapsulator Platinum. The durability is incredible. It's also great for pitted areas. So if you sand the metal and it's bare, but there are pits, the rust is likely still in the pits. You can apply Platinum, and then sand it. It will remain in the pits and stop the rust. You can then apply your next coating, like Epoxy Primer.

If you're planning on blasting the frame, you can start with epoxy primer. If you're not blasting the frame, you can use Rust Encapsulator Platinum covered in 2K Chassis Black.

Unlike most rust paints, Platinum adheres well to bare metal, so if it's a mix of rust and bare metal, Platinum will do the job right.
