Ak and mp5 patterns were satisfying to master, yeah, but i'd take randomized any day when you add ukn warriors and scripters to the context. I have friends that like the other aspects of Rust but hated the guns and thus, quit. Hopefully i can bring them back now

News flash: Most people who buy Rust and quit do it before they ever even get close to having a gun in their hands. They don't even realize how difficult the recoil patterns are because they rage out after getting killed 3x while trying to build their first base. Updating recoil won't change that or help with new players in any way. You lose a ton of veteran players new players will quit for the same reasons they always have.

@@Preston99916 I'm not sure if you're new to Rust or what but I can explain some things for you. Most people who quit Rust quit -before- they ever get a gun. They don't have a clue how hard recoil is. They quit because every time they join a server, they get killed quickly and don't even get a chance to build a base and progress. No one is going to stop KOS because of a recoil update. Large groups aren't going to stop killing nakeds on the beach from the recoil. The toxicity is what drives away new players and letting the entire server beam AK instead of 5-10% of it will only make that problem worse. Not better. As for longevity in wipes, that won't change either. Servers die down due to big groups raiding everyone. Recoil does absolutely nothing for that. Casual players can still only play a few hours each day and dedicated players still have 20 man groups that can play all day and night.

There’s a lot of pushback from this update, but honestly I think it’s the best thing that has come to rust in a while. The game is much more accessible now; and, even though veterans may not be happy, I think the easier recoil patterns will attract a larger and stronger player base! Edit: I have 2k hours, and will miss having a leg-up with my ak spray, but I’m honestly glad people can hop on and have these higher-tier weapons as more accessible options.

I like this new update because of the skill of the player is solely game sense now instead before you had to grind gun recoil until it became muscle memory. If you wanted to play to Rust but wasn't good at recoil or didn't have time to spend hours learning it, you'll find that gun fights would be frustrating. The new recoil prevents scripters from having a huge advantage. the sounds could use some work and I personally don't like the extended mag. I like the direction of where Rust is going. Rust isn't supposed to be a PVP sweat fest. The game has other things in it that are fun. PVP gun fights Isn't what Rust is. Rust is more than that by leaps and bounds

Yes if by game changing you mean making it impossible. As a solo you rely on out skilling teams and with this update you can no longer do that so numbers will rule = more and bigger teams on every server with no out play potential, atleast if you sucked before you had the option to improve to finally out skill the teams but thats no longer an option

In terms of the AK sound, its horrible and I can easily see them going back to the old ak sounds before the update, but in terms of the recoil, it looks like they made the EXACT approach I thought was best.. a predictable pattern, with slight randomization to the EXACT bullet point. I personally thought they should have kept the same pattern, or at least a very similar one, but thats alright

One of the worst sound updates I have seen in ages, also the recoil update is to hardcore buffing all guns, recoil seems like a joke in this video, I just hope it won't happen. Edit: I am just a casual enjoying this game, I do not suck to hard in pvp yet I would consider myself definitely bottom 40%, I hate these new sounds deeply a lot, the smg now sounds more like ak then ak itself, it is just bad and welp recoil will make so much nice rewarding pvp feel like I am playing Call of Duty, it seems lame. How is it any more accessible? Instead of 5-10% of the player base beaming new kids as they try to build their first base, now 90% can do it. And that is the kind of toxicitiy that makes new players quit. This idea that recoil drove new players away is comical... new players don't even make it to the stage of having a gun before they rage out for being killed 10x in a row and that part of Rust will never change.

Now they're getting killed by 10x as many people before they ever get a gun? Frankly I just think people like you, who put in thousands of hours but refuse to actually practice/train, are just happy you can finally stand a chance in PVP. But on wipe day you'll realize that you've been blaming your lack of skill on recoil so long, you never got passed it to learn leading, strafing, positioning, etc. So even players like you will still get destroyed, constantly. You'll just have to find something else to blame it on. But regardless, the lazy ones who don't practice will always be worse. Recoil doesn't matter for that.

overall i hate every bit of this change but I just had an epiphany, change some guns to make them easier like the new hmg and leave lr and ak spray the same, maybe add a tiny aimcone to combat scriptors. OR better yet you can decide whether you can play with old or new guns, and the old guns have slight aimcones or something but the same spray. OR let us play on old versions, I still want to play on older updates and generally dont really like the new ones. let us play before the minicopter update, or right when scrap helis came out, or hdrp. Just dont force us to play with these godawful changes

All the new weapon sounds sound so basic, the only one that is distinct from the rest is the SAR with the ping

To be honest these recoil changes are good. Everything in rust is time consuming, from crafting and building, to learning GUN RECOILS... It'll give new players a chance to actually fight back and people who got limited time to play fairly. Yes, a moment of silence for pro players. But developers can't pirorities a few people, they need new players. Of course people will still have to learn how to control ingame, but they wont have to go out of their way and look at spray marks on the walls to learn how to control.

The new update is pretty cool but the sounds definitely is a bad idea. They all sound similar and pretty cheaply made. Hope they keep the old sounds.
