I did this in my trailer . But only things I did different was I primed the floor first with some left over primer to seal the floor then applied the epoxy then clear coat . It’s been good for the last 3 years

Hey this was a good video. Just curious why you didn’t just use Kilz to soak into the wood instead of losing the expensive stuff from absorption. Grey kilz would have made for a great base.
@Jimmy2Tech Жыл бұрын
I was debating that in the beginning but in my research i seen where the finish peeled up in some areas so I decided to just go with the Rock Solid and let that soak in and make a really strong bound. A little more expensive but worth it in my opinion. So far so good no areas have peeled or anything. Looks just like when I put it down.

Great video! Do you let the first coat dry for 24 before plying the second coat of the epoxy? I’d like to do two coats to get a solid thick layer before doing the clear as I’ll be king over bare wood too.
@Jimmy2TechАй бұрын
No i did not wait 24 hours, I forgot what the instructions said to wait between coats but I did that. It was not to long just had to let it tack up.

Looks great! Glad to hear it's holding up well. Looking for a little clarification....and your opinion. I've read two different responses to how big your trailer is, 8.5x24 and 28 feet long. Which one is correct and did I understand the video correctly that you used 3 bags? Also, I just bought a 6x12 V-nose. It's 14.5 to the tip of the nose. I'm wanting to do the floor, ramp, and flap which is just under 120 sq/ft. Would the 2.5 garage kit be enough for good coverage or should I expect to need more? Thanks and keep the great content coming!
@Jimmy2Tech Жыл бұрын
I guess our actual enclosed space is 8.5x24. I think you should be alright but maybe grab an extra bag just incase you need it and if you don't you can just take it back. The amount you use depends on your floor and how you do it. Some prime it first, then there is people like me that did not prime it to allow the epoxy to soak in to the floor a little to have a better bond. Either way it is good stuff.

It's been almost a year. How is it holding up?
@Jimmy2Tech Жыл бұрын
It is holding up really well. There was some debate in the beginning if we should have primed the floor first but I am glad we didn't because the epoxy has a better bond with the wood and not just to a primer. Used a little more epoxy but worth it.

How well does the anti-skid work?
@dc6233 Жыл бұрын
If you use the right amount it works well. It's better than the chips, the chips stick up and it's not easy to clean the floor in the future. I like the anti skid stuff better but use the amount the recommend. I believe 1 3.4 oz pack is good for 1 bag of polycuramine, or per 1 gallon of epoxy.
@robr45964 ай бұрын
Bullseye 123 primer, then the epoxy cote.
@Jimmy2Tech4 ай бұрын
Yes primer is an option, but we decided to go straight epoxy so that our coating adheres to the floor and not the primer for a better application.
@mrnavy2 Жыл бұрын
If you put primer on the floor would that have helped in stopping from your flooring being sucked up?
@royleroy7197 Жыл бұрын
Trowelable wood filler I used a brand called Goodfilla Woodfilla. Wood filler is what Rustoleum recommended me to do and it worked pretty well.
@Jimmy2Tech Жыл бұрын
Primer for sure would have helped with that. We spoke to the manufacture about using just the epoxy with out primer and they said it would be fine and probably have a better bond as it would be bonding directly to the wood and not a primer. It does use more epoxy but worth it. Ours is holding up well.

Sorry for the delay in response, I used the Rustoleum rock solid Polycuramine Gloss Clear top coating 2.5 car garage kit. Since the wood was sealed at this point 1 kit worked well.

It is holding up great. Really stong finish so far and I have dragged a bunch of stuff in and out. It adhered good to the floor. I know it took more product but I am glad I applied it to the bare floor and let it soak in for a deeper better bond. If I would have primed the floor first I think the bond would only be to the primer and not as deep.

So this is the third video I watched, where their isn't enough for a dual port car garage floor, you blame it on the wood soaking in the layers. LOL you got ripped off and suckered into buying a useless kit that lies to you. I'm not going to use this on my floor. I can do a can of driveway coating that will work a lot better. I get 5 gallons for less than 25 bucks.
@Freejohnsilkyputty Жыл бұрын
You didn’t prime the wood. Big mistake. You’ll have to do two more coats of epoxy.
@Jimmy2Tech Жыл бұрын
We wanted the epoxy to stick to the wood not the primer so it would adhere better. You are right we did use more epoxy but it should be a better bond according to the manufacturer.
