next time you do a floor like this or any kind of painting, add caulk in addition to the painters tape.. makes for a super clean line and prevents bleed.

My step dad, mom and brother (along with myself) did something something like this years ago (like back in '99 or '00). But we didnt have none of those items. Life before KZbin. Where we just use some type of heavy duty paint on the carport. So we clean and washed the carport out (open carport at that). Next day we painted it. The carport looked good for about three months. It was hard work an a little fun.

I've done this kit (different colors) in two of my garages. Prep is absolutely essential! Even after a muriatic acid wash there were spots that didn't get completely clean and the epoxy did not adhere. (Older garage that had been beaten up quite a bit.) Regardless, it still looked pretty damn nice!

I have a two car garage and one of these 2.5 garage floor kits was more than enough to cover my floor and I'm very happy with the outcome. Infact I through a little away that I had leftover. Remember with painting your wanting to change the color. Its not like putting icing on a cake, the thicker the better so just change the color and you'll have plenty to complete a two car garage like I was able to..

how many sq feet is your garage, 576? I was wanting to do my new 2 door garage it's 576 with a 6 inch rise around the base. I was wanting a thick coat on mine tho. I'm probably going to go with 2 2.5 kits.

If you don't want it to bleed through the tape, caulk the edge of the tape. Just do a really thin beat of caulking. It'll seal the tape and the material won't bleed under. I'm a professional house painter and that's what I do when I paint walls and I have to cover the baseboards.

So I did the Rustoleum gray and I messed up in a couple spots. Might have to re etch and redo because I love the performance in the areas where it actually held great. The other spots where it is failing just piss me off ha.

Not sure if it would work with concrete or epoxy but I was taught a trick when painting interior walls if you tape off area then take silicone and you do small bead followed by gloved finger interior you don't need a big glob but it gets into the gaps and seals it and you get crisp lines when you peal back tape its a little more work but I suck at painting so it makes it look professional. Also that inflator is neat, do think I need one for ekit Finally I have a similar thought process though being paralyzed there is some jobs I can't do but I do still try to do what I can, I won't lie there is little jobs like oil changes that's quicker to pay for but that's just me but if I had that lift and definitely not HF jack stands a garage(I get cold for a HI is anything under 65° it's - 4° right now this is how u can key a car with ur nips lol)

I forgot to comment of the other video of your thoughts on a garage and I would personally look into adding onto your home garage. That way all your tools are close by and you have have to bounce between two places to get tools. BUT!! Having a separate garage that's dedicated to wrenching on badass cars/ trucks that's tucked away in the back, then I would definitely put up a 24x30 shop!!

To get straight lines use caulk on the tape and floor. So when you paint it you're painting on thr caulk. When u lift the tape you're cutting the caulk which will give you a perfect line. It's impossible to get a straight line with just tape on a textured wall or floor.

I probably getting one for similar reasons but did have a cigarette plug one that worked in a pinch and have a small jump pack & basic tools. Not sure your disability but if you do any maintenance on your vehicles what I did being paralyzed is installed air hose on retractable reels since I don't have a garage main compressor in basement and have piped to quick connects to a small Rubbermaid shed where I keep my tool cart and tools. One day I will lottery and have an accessible garage and home but till then improvise, adapt, overcome or.... (atf fronws upon last part ha)

Should have added the non skid additive stuff if you didn’t want slick floors. We do ours dark grey next week no flakes..

Thought about doing black because it looked cool until you did the week later check in. Black will show all the dirt from pull ins. Medium gray with heavy chips should reduce how dirty it looks

I'm commenting mostly for the "almighty algorithm". I'm going to have my garage epoxied, but first, I'm going to have my basement epoxied to prevent any last bit of radon from coming into my house (on top of the radon mitigation system I have installed). This will also protect the floor until I have time to install a flooring system over it. My garage is going to take a lot more prep as I have to grind down the side wall schlup (is that even a word?) that spilled out from the concrete forms. The garage is going to happen, but it'll happen second.

You should have added a good layer of clear and some no slip additive. To anyone out there using the rust oleum kits always double what the box says it will cover. Meaning if u have a 2 car get 2 two car kits

That’s crazy their kit only uses one coat. Wonder how long it will last. The kit I did from “original color chips” has 3 coats: an epoxy primer, the main base coat, and a urethane top coat. If you can get away with using just one coat by using this kit it definitely would save a lot of time compared to the one I used. For those 3 coats you have to wait about a day between coats.

Yes sir. There are also top coats out there that they sell that has some sort of gritty texture to give you better traction.

Rustoleum makes a clear grit that can be added, same as the color flake, to add traction. Sonif you want a mostly black floor with sparse white flake (which I prefer... my man let his family add way too much flake to that onyx monolith) you just sprinkle a little clear grit along with your color flakes.

No reputable coating manufacturer would warrant their product on a not properly ground or blasted floor. Etching is not okay, never will be. It doesn't open up the pores properly. I do this for a living. 👍

Hey Manuel, I'm not an expert, but let me tell you what I did on my 28x30 garage. I used two kits. I didn't do black, I did gray, so maybe my garage floor is showing through, but with gray on gray, does it really matter? I can't tell if it is. Anyway, the kits come with two bags of flake and I bought four extra, for a total of eight. That gave me coverage similar to what is shown in the video. In other words, it takes quite a bit. As stated, prep is key. I went overboard. My garage was also brand new, so I didn't need to grind, but I started washing it several days before I laid down the epoxy, doing the acid wash and then coming back every day to respray and squeegee to get out all the dust. Then the morning I laid down the epoxy, I came back and swept it really good. It was clean enough to eat off of when I started. It's been about a year and a half and it is holding up great. I work on vehicles, rolling jacks, toolbox, and jack stands around, and do woodworking, etc. I'd classify my usage of it as medium duty. So far it is holding up like a champ. I am not careful with it at all, but I haven't dropped a 100lbs anvil on it either. I know that doesn't directly answer your question, but hopefully it will help give you some guidance. Good luck.

I’m doing this project currently. I’d use thick painters tape (yellow for maximum sealing) and do one square at a time to ensure it doesn’t bleed over and your lines stay clear.

Love the channel but the DIY kits are definitely not the way to go for a long-term solution. I did everything and more for prep and hot tires marks started within weeks. Wrote the company and they said with "higher-end" tires leeching is normal and DIY kits won't prevent it from happening. Got a full refund on all materials but still spent numerous hours moving and storing stuff in and out of the garage.

Spill gas and wipe it off. The floor kit comes off with it. Best to do an industrial epoxy job and not DIY kit.
