Quite a character, who clearly still loves working on cars. A big 👍 from me.

Just makes me remember my old fella doing this sort of thing day in day out when he was working as a mechanic… 51 years he did it for 👍

I don't nor have I ever owned an Alfa, but I DO own 20 - 35 year old vehicles so any car channel is good, especially dealing with maintenance & rust. Thumbs up!

I could definitely use some sort of rust-proof layer coating the underside of my next vehicle purchase. The county salts up the roads so heavily during the icy winters, and it just eats away terribly at the metal.

Great job 👍 Had my 2007 Land Rover Freelander 2 ‘Dinitrolled’ last year at SW Rustproofing to slow the rusting process down - best £investment I’ve made 😁

Top job & excellent advise for anyone wanting to keep a vehicle long term. Waxoyl extends the cars life substantially. I'm just doing my astra, low mileage, pre dpf, diesel with an Isuzu engine - hence quite simple & fairly reliable so, I want it to last ! Apologies for mentioning Vauxhall - I have previously owned an Alfa 147 & loved it, until a young lady wrote it off for me ! Hope this softens the mention of the Astra. Love your videos, thank you.

I’ve used hammerite under seal with wax oil. I did start to use kurust to treat rust but I’m wondering if I need to. Can I just put the under seal on without the kurust
@Paul-899ccАй бұрын
You could most likely get away with it if it's only minor. But, for the extra time & effort I prefer to treat the rust as well 👍

Why did it all look black after it was done when you were using the clear waxoyl? I'm thinking of doing my own car soon but was planning on using the clear one so that I can see what was going on behind it when I inspect it each year.

Thanks for the video Alfaman.. is it worth using a steel brush on some of the areas pre-spraying? 🍻👍🏾
@AlfamanGarageServices3 ай бұрын
@@stephenh8706 no. not really. if clogged with earth u have to power wash down… Some times I add engine oil to the mix…. BUT THE MAJOR POINT IS TO SPRAY INSIDE THE COMPONENTS AS WELL AS THE OUTSIDES. If the arms…sub frames are rotted… YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE ROTTED PART. So use a hammer to bash the parts first . If rotted u will see. Regards Eddy

You really do need to wear a face mask when spraying Waxoyle. There are long term effects on your lungs after inhaling those nasty fumes. An extractor fan doesn’t do much.
@AlfamanGarageServices4 ай бұрын
Thank you for your concern @caroltaylor4684 i will consider that next time.

Thank you for your concern ref. my lungs but normally wear a face mask as well as a head covering and use a big fan to blow the fumes out of the workshop open gate. But doing the video wanted to show what I was doing. Eddy

@@jeffreyhemingway9578I think that’s down to Ford who used non galvanised steel and wax oils work better when the steel is new and not been attacked by the old rust worm…and how did you use it. I mist the wax oil in and also mix some old engine oil with the wax oil… regaurds Eddy

Zero rust abatement. Zero removal of original flaking hard coating. A real dichotomy between the stated goal and the actual work done. Others here seem easily impressed. But the frame of this car is cooked. Might as well just use black spray paint.

I clicked subscribe! You clearly adore Alfas! I have a miracle. Bought in 1984 by one owner in the Kalahari Desert, for 32 years. There! 100-180mm of rain a year. It’s had one piece of welding to the battery tray, which 10 year old cars can have. It is a RHD Alfasud Ti, and apparently, Alfas were painted better than Mercs in South Africa! 💚🤍❤
