I will be doing this exact replacement on my 60 Thunderbird. Some differences but basically the same suspension set up. I appreciate this video! Now I have the basic knowledge to get started.

This video helped me out a ton. Doing this on an LTD and it's exactly the same. My ball joint rivets were a real PITA, but eventually got it all done. Thank you for posting this.

I was gonna say, I'm dailying a 78 LTD in the non-salty months and it doesn't look like Ford changed anything. I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I can't tell you how helpful this was. I've been restoring my 68 galaxie for a handful of years, but haven't touched the suspension. At first I was just going to do the upper control arm bushings, but I'm thinking i'll need to go through the whole thing like you did.. Thank you so much!

So glad you made this video and included all the steps and tools needed to complete the job. After looking for a video that covers this exact control arm, this appears to be the only one. Very much appreciated.

gotta love fomoco's thriftiness! looks to be the same for my '67 galaxie, save for the spindles which i'm swapping for a set off a '70 continental.

You gave some great tips. I'm going to save your video for when I do the front end of my '65 Ford Galaxie. I just got done with a complete rebuild of all four brakes and master cylinder and I'm tired. But I did hear a "click" in the front end when I turn the steering wheel from side to side so something needs replacing. I'm too tired now for a major job right away but I think I'll put in the Petronix electronic ignition and coil tomorrow.

Hey there!! Thank you so much for the video. Would you mind going more into detail as of what you did at 26:44? I can’t seem to understand how you determined the proper height and the procedure you followed to make it right :) Many thanks!

Did I load the suspension, before I tightened the bolt? Mimic loaded suspension, as if it were on the ground, or as close as you can get.

Hey Rusty buddy, great video, definitely some useful pointers. I'm working on a 68 Galaxie 500 right now doing the same thing and then some. I have a question on the front brakes on this car and hope you have done them and have some info. The 68 front hub/rotor was a one year deal then Ford changed some things and I can't find any replacement for the life of me. Do you know of any cross over parts or maybe even getting different spindles I don't know what I just need something that works. Thanks Rusty, keep on wrenching.
@RustBeltAuto8 ай бұрын
I do not. I would guess that the bearing numbers, and rotor diameter might be useful. Good luck.

There is mud in the rear quarters, and holes in the floor. The frame has been welded. Like most people, it looks good on the outside.
