I just finished painting my 1998 Oldsmobile Achieva. Literally. About an hour ago, so it's still pretty soft. I used 2 qt of the glossy black Farm and Implement. No strict ratio between acetone and paint. Kept the acetone just shy of the amount of paint... I used the hardener that you normally use with fiberglass resin about a teaspoon to a full paint cup of paint seem to work great. I put a light coat on to "catch" the next 4 medium coats, waiting 5 or 10 minutes between coats. Everyone went on smooth and pretty. I'll probably wait a month before I clear coat it. Not sure how I'll do that yet. Wish I knew how to send pictures of it on here, but trust me when I say I'm real happy with it. I'm telling you this because this has been a project in the making for two or three months and your videos have been with me every step of the way. I appreciate that. Thank you very much. I didn't follow everything you did, of course but tips and tricks I picked up along your way, helped me out a lot. Thanks again and God bless!

I have an 89 F150 and it is rusting in the same places and has the same stupid CB antenna. I had an 91 and had strip it down to bare metal after the paint flaked off. Ford wouldn't fix the issue. It was a problem with Ford till 95. The primer is the problem with those years, so it was good that you took it to bare metal. Looking good.

Hi Johnathon, The neighbor lady liked the pearl flowerpots, too funny. She asked if I would paint two old pots blue with some "sparklie" as she calls it. Too Funny. Truck is coming out GREAT! Did three coats of the rusty metal primer but I only showed the first coat everybody will see it completely primed next episode first thing before we do body work and then it's paint time

Thanks for the information. I also used 3:1 ratio with the Rustoleum and acetone and a 1.3 tip. Sprayed fine. Had to move a little faster but that might just be me. Also added 1 teaspoon of hardener to 8oz.

I decided to use the Rust-Oleum rusty metal primer due to the surface rust that was on it and because I'm going with a budget rustoleum paint job but generally you would use a rust treatment such as rust mort by SEM then a direct metal primer or epoxy primer if you were doing most other automotive paint jobs thanks for watching

What’s the flash time before clear coat over rust oleum

I typically wait 45 minutes to an hour depending on temperature a great way to check to make sure it's ready is touch it with your finger in an unsuspecting place or on the tape as long as it's tacky but it's not pulling paint off on your finger you are ready to go apply clear coat thanks for watching
