I never was a fan of the 60s. My uncle informed me last week of a '60 Convertible here in town that might able to be bought. I know how these "situations" end up going, but I'll keep you updated if anything ever comes of it.
@racecar29332 жыл бұрын
1 owner, little Ole lady has since moved on, and the car is sitting outside under a tarp from what I've been told so far. These situations, in my opinion, get fucked up in the process. Meaning, someone will possibly step in between me and my uncle and end up with the car. Nothing I can do since all I have is the story about the car.

Glad to see your able to get a shop started, you won't go wrong going for the max size you can afford now. Even if it only means say, a partial concrete floor in the beginning. Thinking ahead now regarding future expansion can help later too(lean to's as an example). Good tips on external badging to id engines.

You are doing exactly the right thing in doing a big building. I made mine 1400 sq. ft. with 10' walls only because my city wouldn't allow any more than that. I am at capacity already and could easily use at least three times that much footage.

This back window lying around uninstalled into body makes it look even more panoramic and more curved than in car. As for the rear emblem: There are Chevy crests pictured on the tailgates, under the round medallion in factory literature. Can't tell if all 3 kinds you list here. There is also talk about rear licence plate being hinged "for vehicle identification when tailgate is lowered". Good luck with the new building and no tornadoes to rip it apart !

Thank you for your videos. A word on buildings: I’ve been affiliated off and on for years with the Illinois Railway Museum in Union IL. Their outlook for decades has been to build as many large pole barns to house their antique rail artifacts because, once you get them inside from the midwestern elements, the deterioration goes from nasty to nil just like that. So your call to build a large shop building in Iowa’s similar climate is prudent.

Hey there not sure what part of Iowa you are in, I grew up in Iowa city and spent from 1965 1971 in Burlington. That Sunrise bottle you found used to be a orange drink , they also made a lemon lime version too. I drank it in the sixties but I can't recall where it was bottled. Back in 2001 I was back in Iowa visiting family and drove through Columbus Junction Iowa and my eye caught an old 1966 dodge charger with the slant back window. At the time it had a 383 in the hood . I ended up buying it for dirt cheap and brought it back home to Colorado and put a 440 under the hood . Fourtnatly the car had a complete dash and most of the trim , the hood trunk, and fenders were all there and not rusted to bad mostly surface rust. They guys I bought the car from had several other 1966 chargers that were wrecked and sold me any trim parts I needed. Long story.short today she is a dark cherry red, black interior , and like I said I t has the balanced and blue printed 440 engine. You are correct there are a lot of really nice old cars back in Iowa just waiting to be brought back to life. Don't forget to look inside old barns too, lots of old iron in them too.

Is the frame gone? Looks like a good restomod project if you had deep pockets. I used to haul band equipment in my '60 El Camino. Mine had the factory 348 with tri power mated to a factory 4-speed. Mine also had the flip down tag holder. Illinois cops were really picky about displaying your plate. Mine had rust in the usual spots. Wound up selling it to a kid I knew in school. He painted it butter yellow with a black interior. He also put some Anson slot mags on it too. What's with the "61 you showed with the 6 in it? Are you planning to sell it? How much?
