me too and use some rust inhiberter if not going to be used for a while in storage

I live in the Pacific Northwest where it’s always damp and foggy. I clean my tools after every use but they always rust; and worse, they get pitted along the knife edge so I can’t get a smooth surface. Frustrating as Hell. I’m going to switch to stainless and see if that helps.

Don’t buy cheap knives….. ! use Stainless steel , they aren’t as flimsy as standard steel , and won’t rust. I was in the union and the best finishers used Stainless , the cheap guys with their cheap knives usually weren’t around long

I was in the union too. Since 1976. The first time I use stainless steel the corner bent and I had to throw it away in about an hour of using it. I love blue steel, just buy a known brand.

What do you think of Fluid Film? I've never tried it, some say it's better than WD-40.

I use stainless knives. And I use a sanding sponge or pole to get them clean.

I Keep the can of wd40 in my crate. Spray them at the end of every day.

My point up 6 inch and my 5 inch or 4 inch angle knives never touch water after they are properly broken in. A good angle knife is a beautiful thing.

PS knives almost always break where the blade meets the handle. I never allow water on that particular spot. I only clean that area by scraping.

I always make sure to dry them off after washing them off keeps them from flash rusting then I always sand them off with 220 grit at the beginning of day no rust really at all

If you spray PB blast into one of your buckets of water and let the knives soak overnight in the bucket. The results are amazing! Found this out by accident a few yrs ago.
