I do 3 coats. I do the rows like you and the 3rd coat I do a swath with the entire 6 inch knife to cover and feather the build up from the first 2 coats. I pole sand my work so it really saves time on that end.

I worked in Allentown pa on a commercial job the inspector had a screw inspection he wanted 3” on edges and no more than 6” in the field it was ridiculous

I was trained to do 3 coats. 2 coats is very hard to get away with especially when most of the time your first coat is going to be with taping mud which is going to shrink much more than any other mud.

Thank you for the update! An apprentice who works with me - prefills, tapes and first coat screws. I come and coat/skim/sand/detail and policy of the company 3 coats screws (Toronto). Since the guy puts 1st coat I was adding 2 more coats and It'd be technically good enough. When I final sand - screws look good but after they primed those walls I go double check and see about 30% of screws showing. So I just don't count his 1st coat anymore and do 3 coats myself so it's like 4 coats - insane but it is what it is ... Most likely he uses runny mud or it has something to do with delayed shrinkage? I told him to be careful - no idea if he changed his consistency yet. Maybe drywall hangers set the screws way too deep? Love your idea with 2 coat screws when you glue drywall - that's awesome

Here we do two coats with thick mud (with no water additions). In 90% works. Those 10% we did the third coat.

What can I do if I cut the sheetrock and the top part fit perfect on the middle of the stud but the bottom its short 1 inch how fix that?? Just cut the top?? I hope understand my English.. thank for all you're videos help me a lot

Are you saying you have a 1" gap at the floor? Walls should be 8'1" tall . Your drywall goes on the ceiling first and you but the top sheet to that . When you hang the bottom sheet you lift it to meet the top sheet and have a 1/2" gap at the floor.

Your mud has a yellow tint. Did you add yellow chalk dust to the mix?

there no money in 3 coats. 2 is good enough epecially with thick mud and done by hand.
