21-34: My late father (WWII Royal Navy and 'other' WWII stuff!) Brought me up as a child to respect weapons. Many years later - after his passing - I was made aware just how valuable his teachings were. It didn't happen to me, but someone I know, accepted a weapon from the range officer at a local gun club and - being the complete 'knob' he was - squeezed the trigger. The weapon (thankfully a .22 target pistol) had 'one up the spout' and ended up knocking a small hole in the shop's fittings and scaring 7 shades of sh*te out of all there! The firer was in the wrong of course; but in my opinion, more in the wrong, were the staff who had handed to him an unchecked weapon....

@@DowntownDeuce2 I can spell, but from another country. That means my auto correct fucks up my comments sometimes. UKSF most likely still have them in their inventory, but dont really use them. Also regarding my previous comments are not television education. People wonder how SAS soldiers keep healthy as they get older, no disrespect but your era I meant. How to cope with illness, the mindset as we age. Because obviously the SAS is a mentally strong regiment. A TV reunion of the boys on the seige telling stories would be brilliant television. I would love to know why the MP5 was selected over the Sterling L2A3. L2A3 magazine is the easiest magazine to load, its sideways, out of the way, and its accurate, extremely reliable. I would love an answer from a pro.
@PieAndChips Жыл бұрын
The MP5 is far better suited for use by special forces. It's slightly lighter - being made from stamped steel and plastic. When on a 3-point sling, it'll sit flat against the body and will be far less likely to snag on things. The collapsible stock is a much better design. It fires from a closed bolt which is better suited to adverse conditions and also lends itself better to being suppressed. The SMG was a good bit of kit, it was simple and reliable and doesnt deserve the poor reputation that it often gets, but its comparatively heavy when compared to the MP5, the magazine and cocking handle have a tendency to poke you when slung and the stock although well designed for the time, is a bit of a finger trap and I imagine tricky to deploy when under pressure.
@imjinriver641 Жыл бұрын
@@PieAndChips Mr PieAndChips. I can't thank you enough for the info. You present as very knowledgeable. I own an L2A3, the points you make are spot on. It is hard to cock, the open bolt is an issue, but it helps with heat dissipation. The stock is a nightmare to hold;unfold, The horizontal mag just works for me, and the magazine rollers make it easy to load. Thank You, I wish you the best!

Hi rusty great channel. Ive always wondered. how some of the special forces guys and the army in general. Got on with shooting some of the different weapons. If they are lefthanded. As a lefty myself and owning a number of different caliber hunting rifles through the years. I use to enjoy abit of range shooting if I wasn't hunting. All my rifles. where righthanded bolt action and rightside ejector. With a ambidextrous stock. Of course sub machine guns are a different kettle of fish ! With the army able to have fully automatic weapons. Where the mp5 for instance ambidextrous. Or was it a case a lefthanded person would have to learn to shoot right-handed. Or just put up with the hot brass flying out across there face. Anyway keep up with the channel atb
