The Browning 9 milly! I was only in the Green Army Rusty, but in Northern Ireland we used to be issued these ONLY for an Escort Job in Civvies to collect someone from the Airport in a Civvy Car with an MT bloke! The MT driver also drew one, but I also had my SA80 in a sports bag at my feet. Incredible clip Rusty because it brought it all back, but more than that educational! I never knew that Weapon went that far back in history! Great clip!

What a great channel. Members of the regiment are resolute professionals in a plethora of NATO and former Warsaw Pact Soviet weapons. What they can’t teach about correct and safe weapon handling and the characteristics of these weapons isn’t worth knowing. A truly fascinating insight.

Hi Rusty, good to see you back again. on my second RAFG tour, instead of the SLP, we were issued with the Walther PP (or PPK, I can't remember) as the FN/Browning was a little bulky when worn with LSJ, but I always felt that if needed, the browning had a nice balanced 'feel', substantial compared to the Walther, but of course with the constraints of ejection seat and parachute straps the PP(K) was much more comfortable. just my tuppence worth

Biggest problem with the Browning was it was never designed to use the high power 2z ammo that was issued to reliably operate the sterling smg. we suffered cracks in the slide and main body up until it was replaced with the sig

Back in the 1980s. I had packmeyer grips on mine. Hi- vis fore sight. We also civilian sourced shoulder and pancake holsters. In certain areas we would have one up the spout ready 1 condition. And sit on the weapon under left thigh. Quick to use if required, when driving.

Hello Rusty, liam here. This has been a great insight into the Browning 9 milimeter. BROWNING was incredible, for his time. Even today the browning anti aircraft machine gun or a "50" is still being used and manufactured. Which it self is about hundred year old. The man realy did get it right first time. Recently a mate of mine brought a browning 12 bore shot gun for pest control measures(its part of his job, going around farms). Beutifulpeice of machinery that oozed quality. Any way in other news, the days getting closer to the range rover luanch. I've pretty much rewired it( which is no mean feat for a bricklayer) might put dome new shocks on it, are we going to be doing "high speed cornering" ? I fitted a heavy duty springs on it years ago, so it handled better. Any way i'l keep you posted. Bye for now, another great video by the way👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Great video Rusty mate. Browning have always been great guns..... Yep a pistol in the hand if mistakes are made can cause more damage yourself and others. You tend to point a long barrelled weapon away or down etc... but pistol in both hands, in the wrong hands or spare of moment can be devastating

Looking forward to the MP5 Rusty, never been near it in the Green Army! But will like to hear your views on the SLR later in the series. Was arguing just this week on SLR and SA80 on an Army FB page as to preference? Mine was SLR, 7.62mm Manstopper! Now in the SAS, were you all involved in the change over from SLR to SA80 as personal weapons? Did the MOD ask you boys back then your opinions? Did they involve you all before the change over? Or was it just the MOD saying that’s the way it is from here on in? Anyway, looking forward to the MP5 demo! Never went near it!

Great info, always told to treat any gun as loaded. Still got a rollicking for the sparrows I’d accumulated behind my dads shed at age 6 with a HW80 springer though. Also just remembered something, what is a punt gun anyone? I don’t mean the original waterfowl type but something maybe just referred to as a punt but more modern, could fire nuts bolts, forks anything you could fit down it.

I never knew the germans used the browning hi power. We were always lead to believe that the luger po8 and the walther p38 that came into service in 1938 because the intricate toggle mechanism would jam quite easily on the po8.I would like to know your opinion on the p38 rusty.

Hi rusty Had to use phone to comment due to stupid computer updates taking ages as usual. I really liked the Browning. Very reliable weapon. Sometimes there was a tag on the hammer with a hole in it, never understood why. Extended 20 round mag good too. Also good in pancake holster. The weapon you have there certainly isn’t Rusty it’s immaculate. Ha ha. Stay well Rusty, Stevie in Fife

Big fault in that it is single action only, to fire the gun you had to pull back the hammer jump like the old SAA cowboys guns made in 1873, the germans had a much better gun the Walther P38 double action with a de-cocker lever Again this gun could get you killed very fast indeed!..
