That's not a hammer! It's a glazing iron for surfacing and polishing leather. They're used in shoe making and other leather crafts. You don't hit things with it. You heat it up, and then you use the curved metal surface to burnish the leather to a smooth polish. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4CXlYOheZJ1aZo Glazing irons are NOT impact tools. They're made of soft steel. Keep hitting metal objects with it like you did at the end of the video, and you'll just end up deforming it again like it was at the beginning. It is NOT designed for that. Whenever a tool doesn't look like what you think it might be, that's almost always because it's not. Misuse of any tool is inherently dangerous. Research, always, before you damage a tool, ruin a project, and/or hurt yourself.

Are you sure it is a hammer? It looks rather like a shoemakers tool. You heat up this one and apply the wax on the leather heel with the smooth end before you polish the heel sides.

Fun tool... good resotration. 👍 But i would not use it as hammer to remove rust, unless you want the risk of getting markings. Better with Vinegar and soft spinning steel brush.
