To be perfectly honest, I thought you had a lost cause on your hands with that scabbard. It turned out amazing. Looks like it was issued from a Wehrmacht supply depot yesterday instead of being a battlefield recovery 70 plus years later. Wonderful work.

Полностью оловянной шпатлевкой надо было делать. Или компаундом залить прозрачным, чтобы старину подчеркнуть. А так проще новый сделать. Но смотреть всё равно интересно. 👍👍👍

Lovely work But I have to recommend electrolysis ons does an amazing job of removing rust and keeps paint and other applied substances on while destroying rust. I do understand that you have to make it more than 10 minutes but for personal projects I cannot recommend electrolysis enough! - A loyal subscriber ;)

This is one of those deals where the restore to replace ratio is just way too high for me. Personally, I would've soaked it in rust remover, wire brushed it a little and sprayed it with rust inhibitor. Then used it as a model to just make a new one. That's a LOT of work you put in, MAJOR RESPECT to you.

when things get this bad you have only three options, preservation which at best halts teh damage but does nothing to restore its appearance or durability, restoration which sacrifices much of its history but allows it to both survive and present itself as it was intended, or to leave it as is and just let it finish rotting away, once something is this bad there are no good options, just the ones that piss off the least people
