At least it was dry this morning for your weekly mooch about . That long drill bit might have a use for drilling a thick wall for either location or for feeding a cable through the hole. Nice idea with the bent Chisel..Can’t say what the metal frame is but more than likely there would be others parts involved.👍⚒🥇🎥✅

Hi David ! Not that close I’m. Afraid 30 mile each way ! But worth the trip it’s over now until next year as it’s based on a field…😕 thanks for viewing 😀

Bit of useless information but I'm Pretty sure the homemade chisel you got looks like it's been cut out of hardox and if it is the carbide tipped drill you got is about the only thing that will drill a hole in it
@chris-the-bodge-sculptor2 жыл бұрын
Now that is interesting! I can confirm it was very hard to cut and drill ! In fact I was cussing myself halfway through drilling it ! How do you know about that’ stuff ?

Been a fabricator/welder for 22years just get to know types of steel usually by the scale or finish on it...we use hardox at work for doing repairs on quarry plant, agricultural stuff etc....I just thought by the look of it it was hardox because it usually has a reddish/pink colour to it and a different scale that doesn't rust the same... I've tryed drilling it a few times but never really a success unless you use carbide tipped drills and plenty cutting fluid ...or you can give it a roast with a burner and drill it when it's hot but we usually just burn or plasma the holes out.....And for welding it it's best to use lo-hi rods or cored wire...but if it's just for sticking together normal mig etc will do for anything with no strain or vibration on it

@@RD-mk9dm thank you I’ve learned something today! , I also managed to arc weld it to the end of a spanner 😂 to be honest I wish I didn’t bother and bought some mild steel.. but I’m cheap

No probs I just came across your channel...I'm a bit the same like making things out of unusual (free) stuff when I get a chance....you would have a feel day in the skips at my work...alot of weird shaped bits from the plasma cutter and the mechanics skip is full of engine and machinery parts ...I came home with a huge seized turbo with a 6 branch manifold on it the other day not sure what I'm going to make with it but too good to go in skip... First thought was heavy duty 6 branch candle stick holder thing

@@RD-mk9dm dam .. a do like a good skip ! , worked on a old boys house , he was a millionaire from a skip ! .. he found a skip full of fibres , he was a keen fisherman and took some home to make a few leaders for carp fishing.. long story short , he put a advertisement in the angeling times got snowed under with orders and started selling them .. he had invented the first high strength line , he found out about the fibres in the skip and where to buy it had to go and get a bank load to buy a big roll of this stuff, set up at at home at first and ended up setting up a factory and selling it all around the world .. all from a skip
