I agree. He's certainly got the skill to hold his own without a gimmick (unlike a lot of online "singers"). I'm glad he chose the gimmick/niche, though. It's quite interesting, and it's important work -- fighting back against the "that's taboo and we can't tolerate you joking about it!" crowd. Though, I also hope to see some more full-fledged work from him, whether based in this same niche or not. Great stuff.

I didn't say he doesn't have a gimmick, or doesn't use gimmicks; I said that his skill level is such that, if he chose to make a mainstream, non-gimmick thing, he'd still be able to hold his own. But that I'm glad he went with gimmicks, because his work is both skilled and fun. There are a lot of talents online who need the gimmick to be able to make it. They don't have the talent or skill level to be able to just sing and attract an audience; without their gimmick, they're dead in the water. Rusty Cage absolutely has the skill to do it either way, and chose gimmicks, and I'm glad he did.

I always love Rusty. His style of music says something. Let me explain: The song all the way through had a happy, upbeat track. The tune seems as if it would go perfect with some happy song. Going through the song and paying attention to the lyrics, it's almost as if the lyrics don't go along with the tune and beat due to the grim nature. Then finally, paying attention to the video, it gives you the chills. None of it seems like it would go together, but it blends together perfectly. That's what I love about Rusty, because he seems to do this in s lot of his other music.

Here's my fan-theory: Elliot Rodger did not die after his school shooting and his parents paid the different news organisations a lot of money too let him seem dead in front of the camera (and on paper). After some months in isolation and getting rid of his thick lips he came back with a new name and a new goal. Now he wants to become a musician because he has found his love for music in his months of isolation. I think mumkey Jones knows this and thats why he is friends with Rusty and Rusty really likes him either and comments every time mumkey uploads something (because he/Elliot never had many friends). Rusty also enjoys talking and singing about the tragedy's of life and he has won a game show in Germany ( and we all know that Elliot was fairly interested in Nazi ideology). Nowadays he feels quite comfortable in his new persona and he is still a youtuber but he never stopped hating the mainstream and that's why his content is so different and so great. possibility of being true: 6.66%
