Nice informative video Ben, much appreciated. I recently acquired a cheap boxed Thunderpole T-2000 and a Red devil mag-mount on eBay. I gotta admit it's been more than forty years since I last keyed a mic up begging for a rig check. What shocked me most, is within seconds someone piped up and we got chatting. Sure did bring back some words I haven't used in a very long time. 10-4! 😉👍

Brilliant video Ben. I do sometimes mis my mobile set up. With the car I have now, the 6900n would be to big. I do still listen to things on my little bofeng and go on PMR.

I am considering getting back on CB -- (old CBer from the 1980s) and am considering the Alinco DX-10 which seems to have some good results and reports - going with a base station set-up and I'm split between Sirio 827 or the 2016.. great video Ben and thanks - 73s from Ireland IE1748

EU CEPT is called Class D Citizens Band in North America. While FM is very similar to AM in theory, in circuit practice, an open squelch on FM is a horror show but open squelch in AM radio is a quiet norm. We really do talk enormous ground wave and no syllables are clipped by the squelch. Listening to a quiet frequency is gratifying. You hear the tiny hiss changes and they come 100 miles closer and turn into voices.

I've got the T600 it's programmed to 2.5 watt but it says 4 watt that it isn't,, a cheap nice little radio but I've got a half wave aerial it's not as high as I've liked but I got out to nearly 30 miles in the Bristol area of BS32

Great video Ben! Have you used the smaller Thunderpole T-600? I'm starting out in CB Radio so want a basic radio and I'm stuck between the T-600 and the T-800. Any advice appreciated! Keep up the awesome videos!

The T 800 is a fine little radio, I use a Thunderpole orbiter with mine. My first radio check was from 20 miles away. That was on fm

There is no point getting one that isnt sideband and you will get about 40 watts out of 6900 The 4 watts is hopeles

I disagree I talk to someone 50miles away on 4 Watts. Also, the UK 40 isn't on SSB
