A literal blast from the past, just incredible! What's even more amazing is that Ruth Brown could sing like this for the next 50 years.

Ruth Brown personified early R&B. . Because she was such a big selling artist Atlantic Records was referred to as the house that Ruth. built. Marvelous live clip.

I was lucky enough to watch Ruth perform several times at the Bootlegger in Las Vegas. She autographed a cd and book for me. She was great.

I like how they close the curtains at the end of the performance. That's something from the old days that they don't do anymore.

This is great. Dinah Washington did this show too ...hard to compare anyone to Washington without offending...but I'd be honored to have performed on the same stage as the Queen.

Question was 'who's the band?' Paul Williams & The Hucklebucklers. MC is the great Willie Bryant.
@BackToTheBlues4 жыл бұрын
With a rare solo from Paul Williams himself. Noble Watts didn't get a look in this time!

If I was a teen during this time my heart would've been so sore. Of course I'd probably had to hide my feelings in fear of getting beat up during this era.
