Rutland Churches: Holy Trinity, Teigh

What happens when the Vicar inherits a title and a fortune? Holy Trinity Church, Teigh, Rutland, does! Robert Sherard was Rector of Teigh when he rather unexpectedly became 4th Earl of Harborough in 1770 due to the death of his older brother. A man with very definite ideas about the setting of the ANglican liturgy, he proceeded to rebuild his church to embody them. Of the three churches Sherard built, this is the only one still functioning, and it is a masterpiece.

It is all just so beautiful. Pastel colours on the walls and ceiling just enhanced the design. And then the wonderful countryside outside. Lovely. Thanks for posting.
