I will give a practical example on the cost of basic foodstuffs having gone down: Last year, I received a Naivas Christmas voucher. I purchased basic food items like sugar, oil, unga, etc. I filled 1 big Naivas bag but I had to top up a little bit over the voucher amount. This year, the same amount gave me 2 big bags of goods. At the counter, I was sent to buy more stuff as I still had 700 bob in credit! Ruto's policies are working and it's pathetic that people who witnessed traffic jams over the holidays still insist that people don't have money in their pockets 🙄

Happy New Year guys, I think we should separate this novel hatred against Ruto, with last 2023's protests against him. To be fair, the cost of living was higher in 2023 compared to 2024. Finance Bill 2023 had adverse tax proposals compared to 2024. Compound it with the sense of grief among Raila supporters, and add the the exclusive two-tribe government that Ruto created, and the naked tribalism. The protests were justified. Even 2024 protests against the Finance Bill had justification. Unlike in 2023, Ruto showed his willingness to compromise, and the 2024 Finance Bill was withdrawn and government reconstituted. Thereafter, there has been a different kind of sustained hate campaign against Ruto, but it cannot be compared to the hate campaign against Raila's AUC bid. One thing though, these campaigns have ethnic inclinations too. Even today, we see this report by OCCRP that purportedly ranked Ruto as the most corrupt, and which the press has shared with glee. It turns out that OCCRP asked people to nominate the most corrupt person, and the link was pushed to 'third world countries'. The unjustified rage and angst mob against Ruto got a hold of it, and submitted 40 thousand clicks. Tell me, what is this, if not chuki? Hamkubaliani naye, sawa, lakini mbona chuki? Can we be objective? Why would reputable media station also share it. Kama hawamtaki, at least wamuonyeshe heshima as Kenya's Head of State. Fine, so once you damage his reputation, you are sending some message to the world. What if the world acts on your message, and stays away? Who will come here as a tourist? As an investor? These people are multiplying our problems, they want the ship to sink with all of us. I did not vote for President Ruto and I have refused to join the injili ya chuki against him.
