One of my 10 all time favorite punk bands. Their musicianship leaves 98% of punk bands spinning in the dust.

What a blast from the blast! They were an exceptional band and tbf Ruts DC have also produced some great music since. RIP Foxy and Malcolm.

Its been so long ago I cant remember Malcolm clearly as he never talked to me much even though I made him Veggie food at my house as they rehearsed in a spare back room with a mattress over the door to keep the noise down. Dave ,Paul and John were the nicest guys you could meet real London gents really good fun to be around Their first gig at the Target Pub -Hayes was incredible - them was the days ...

When he was on tour and going to bed early and getting up late sounds like typical withdrawals, sitting in front with his jacket wrapped tight being quiet. It's so depressing when you can't get the drug. Because not only are you physically sick you are mentally sick and exhausted. Its so difficult. I've been there. I got clean once and then relapsed then I never looked back and used for another ten years then tried again with a few weeks then relapsed, 27 years of hell. I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired

I was a massive fan back then. Hitched up to deeply vale to watch them play sadly after Malcolm died but they were amazing.

I remember listening to John Peel when he started the show by saying Malcolm Owen had died. The Ruts....great band.

Very strange, as was I. Remember like yesterday Peels announcement at start of show. Think he then played babylons burning...loved the Ruts.

A sad story but a very familiar one, I was a musician in early Eighties in a couple of punk rock bands and got myself a bit of a name around town, I had lots of friends and partied pretty hard and was not interested in hard drugs except maybe a bit of speed here an their, then I went overseas to London UK in 86 tried Heroin and have been hooked ever since, Like Owen I had many great opportunities in the music scene but because of Heroin I blew it, i drifted away from my positive friends to only surrounding myself with other junkies, heroin takes your soul away and covers all emotions with a numb feeling of despair. RIP Owen.

I think they were trying to be 'cool for the cameras' too.

I seem to remember reading in the Love In Vain autobiography by the Ruts DC about 5 years ago someone said the ginge at 3:50 Mick Morgan is the bloke who was selling smack to Malcolm and sold the dose which killed him too.🥵
@newellgirl Жыл бұрын
if this is true then surely this Morgan clown is culpable for malcom's tragic passing..some kind of "mate"..he's lying through his teeth here...
