The general skillset, yes, but in terms of first touch, I disagree. Bergkamp regularly turned first touches into counterattacks much more frequently than anyone I've ever seen, and that's including the likes of Zidane, Henry, Baggio,...In terms of passing, they are roughly equal.

well, I respect your opinion and his vision ...But for me Ruud Gullit was much more a Total Footballer than Bergkamp really had a Divine Classical Touch on the ball for sure .. But Gullit It's on another floor Total Footballers of all times ... like Edson Arantes Pelé ...Alfredo Di Stefano ... El Flaco Cruyff ... José Manuel Moreno ... Sir Duncan Edwards ...Franz Beckenbauer .... Diego Maradona ( World Cup 1986 version ) ...Patrick Vieira .... Lothar Matthaus ... Michel Platini( 1984 version )..... Johan Neeskens ..Willy Van Hanegem ..Ruud Krol ..Barry Hulshoff ...Arie Haan ..Blakenburg ... Fernando Redondo ( until 2000 )... Edgar Davids ( until 1998).. Claude Makelele and Ruud Gullit Bergkamp ... had problems .. with strenght ... bodybalance ... endurance... Stamina ...etc .. etc .. behaviour in big matches was weaker as well ... 0, 47 % only ! But he was a great Artist of the Ball ... no doubts about it . !

@@seraqueeusourealmenteobode31 On Gullit, I agree with you, he was not just A total footballer, he was THE total footballer, the blueprint from which excellence can be used to determine. I've never seen such impressive force of nature the likes of Gullit after him. However, I disagree on Bergkamp. Bergkamp had great endurance and stamina. It's only until he reached his 30s that it began to come up as an issue. Even then, he was quite comfortable spamming passes, intercepting balls and occasionally sprinting past defenders in their 20s. Him and Zola were rare examples of advanced attackers active in the EPL (then) at such age. Body balance is a prerequisite for a great first touch, and some of his goals required (at least) decent acrobatic to accomplish, so it's absolutely impossible for it to have been a weakness for him. Strength was a notable weakness when he was younger, however, after getting to the EPL, his experience with the Serie A had convinced Bergkamp to drop the easy going "Eredivisie mentality" and focus on his physicality to great effects. I've seen Bergkamp bodied a younger defender standing next to him who tried to block his first touch without result. At 36, he was considered such a threat that even with 4 supporting defenders around him, Wes Brown decided to risk having a possible penalty to pull him down. One that I will concede is his performances against bigger teams. His fear of flying meant he rarely ever traveled to away games, and even when he put up great performances against European side on home turf, Bergkamp, in the case he did travel through a combo of cars, boats and buses, is usually fatigued by having to change the mode of transport so frequently on the way that Wenger refrained from accommodating him in such occasions. Even in the EPL, it was miserable for Bergkamp to travel to the North for away games. He would come alone and leave alone. This was his greatest flaw.

@seraqueeusourealmenteobode31 those aren't first touches first touch means what it literally means your first touch to control the ball like from a long pass or goal kick
