Lowes & Home Depot carry 16ga big sinks like this now (maybe not the case 3 years ago). I will be installing a Kraus 33" workstation sink this weekend. Thank you for the tip about the using the drying rack for a workspace. I got the smaller ruvati sink for fitting a 24" cabinet in 2019. Deepest sink I could find on that sink width. my strainer has lots of holes, and I use it for draining air drying knives and my bullet blender. I love this sink.

We replaced an old drop in cast iron double sink .... with a deeper, single. under mount .... and LOVE the change. I think most people simply live with what ever sink is in their home when they move in.... so it never really occurs to people that they might enjoy an alternative. And then, if they do replace the counters... they still focus on the counter top. With out giving much thought about changing the sink configuration. But, if you think about it... the sink is a part of your kitchen that is most intensively used

Thanks for your video. I have my Ruvita 45” single bowl for 2 + years. Great to work in/on that large a workstation sink. So helpful to do a job like slicing meat or a cooked turkey on a cutting board that drains directly into the bowl. My sink came with the roller drying rack (used constantly) a large and small strainer tub( used frequently but mine have many more holes so they work well) and two wooden cutting boards. Both boards came badly warped. Their replacements came warped. I asked for another roll up rack instead but Ruvita refused. Found a not wooden cutting board that fits the ledge and use that, not the wood one. Getting some discoloring on the bottom. Worn scratched spots where feet from the bottom rack rub on the bottom. Ledges around the sink collect shumutz but they work well to hold the rack, cutting board and strainer. I have a disposal. Because the drain is positioned to one side, I’ve not had many silverware pieces find their way there as with a center drain and allows more usable space below since disposal sits to one side. My sink was installed incorrectly as yours was. There should have been a quarter inch reveal on front and back inside sink counter to allow that top ledge in an under-mount sink to be used for holding slightly larger cutting boards or strainers but my granite fabricators failed to do that. Would have been nice to be able to have cutting board more securely sit above strainer and slide over it as per instillation instructions. Also would have made it less likely that the front inside sink counter would be chipped. My suggestion is to get the largest single bowl sink you are able to fit and make it a workstation sink with a side drain, installed so there are two ledges to use. I’ve used the space below with a roll out for the stand mixed and multi roll out shelves for storage. Because the depth of the sink is considerable, the garbage pull out is next to and not under the sink. A knee activated pop out mechanisms from IKEA is great for the garbage allowing you to use the pail without touching it with dirty hand. Huge workstation single bowl sinks are a game changer.

Good idea installing additional support. Can’t tell you how much much under Mount sinks I’ve repaired because they came detached and fell off. Both kitchen and bathroom sinks. Btw any issues with scratches? Seen quite a lot of reviews with complaints about scratching.

For the drain- use some thread sealant and on the gasket under the sink. I see this all the time as a plumber- and silicone will make changing the strainer down the road difficult (yes, it will have to be replaced one day).

1st, love the real use video and am now on board for a single basin sink, this vid almost makes me want this sink, {have cabinets, deciding on counter top}2nd if you need to wash dishes this much prior to dishwasher you are using too much soap in dishwasher and need a better dishwasher...** Grandchild of a home Economics teacher**..3rd. My guess is that he lives in a soft water area because there were no hard water spots that I saw. He does have a more involved cleaning process at the end, however. Maybe he dries it as well.

if you slide the weight on the hose of your pull down faucet down a little, you'll be able to pull it out much further... don't go too far though or it won't click back into place.

Thank you for a very helpful video. Just wondering if the sliding drying rack is strong enough to support a full pot of pasta ready to be drained. I'm thinking I'm not tall/strong enough to drain into a colander on that rack and would probably have to place the colander on the sink-bottom rack and rest the pasta pot on the ledge or the drying rack to pour it out. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I'm considering the apron front model of this sink for a kitchen renovation...how much of a hassle is it to keep those sharp squared corners from getting gunky? Right now we have an older sink with really rounded corners and it's so easy to scrub out. Just wondering if it's any harder? Do you just use an old toothbrush or something?

Can you talk about the template that comes with the sink ? was there an issue with the template not matching up for your counter top cuts? someone else reported an issue where the template provided with the sink was off, and they had to come back and re-cut the countertop

I didn't use the template, I measured the sink directly for a coarse hole in my countertop then used a flush trim router bit after the sink was installed for a perfect fit. My countertops are Corian and I put them together myself so it was a simple process. If you have a countertop made from not so easily worked materials like granite then you can leave the countertop overhanging the sink about 1/8in to 1/4in all the way around to hide any imperfections. Alternatively you can go with the top-mount sink.

It's not as easy to clean as a simpler sink but a brillo backed sponge gets the corners great. It would show water spots just like any other stainless sink.

How do you clean the sink and bottom grid? Do you use stainless steel wool on either? How do you keep the sink clean? What cleaning materials do you use?

A dish brush with soap and hot water will get all of the nooks and crannies off the grid. I flip the grid over, plug the sink and start scrubbing while the water fills. When it gets high enough I flip over the grid and scrub the top side then drain. I just use a normal dish brush and soap to clean the sink, sometimes a brillo pad for stubborn spots. It takes about 10 minutes every other week when it gets dirty enough.

how is the drainage btw? i have Kraus which is almost exactly like the Ruvati single hole one, but I find the "pitch" of the sink way too flat, so there is always some puddling of water near the middle, and all the water doesn't flow down into the drain well. How is it for Ruvati?

It's probably about the same as you experience, but I rinse it down frequently and scrub as needed just like any other sink.

Omg u just blew my mind wid this video , the dish strainer use for washing of the chopping bored n other things as support, just 2 question , 1)the metal stand inside of the sink , reduces scratches in the sink but what happens when its greasy after all the dishes being in there, it cannot really be used as a drying rack unless its really washed, how do u keep that clean on the go 2) if m cutting cost n install a splash-back around the sink area by using tiles n not going up with the Korean stone or quartz whats the best material to seal the tile n quartz so theirs no water seeping in n avoid the mol-ding like it happens on that glu or silicon used to join between the tile n quartz behind the sink tap … plz help m in the process of installing my kitchen… 🙏🏻🙏🏻

The rack in the bottom of the sink is easily cleaned with a scrub brush and soap and about an inch of water. Flip for both sides. I don't consider the inside of the sink a clean surface for food prep or dishes. I think you can get anti growth caulking. A good caulking like Lexel or OSI HM270 might also work.

@@egaytan07 ended up with the Kraus. It’s been about 7 months now that I’ve had it and it’s been a really good sink. If I had to nitpick the part where the faucet attaches to the swing arm isn’t my favorite but other than that I have no complaints and it’s holding up really well

I noticed that it's a fairly involved cleaning regimen that you go through. Would you say it's more work cleaning those tight corners vs having some kind of radius?

I use a square brillo backed sponge, it gets the corners easily. Also I don't need to deep clean it often, every week or two depending on our cooking. We rinse it down daily to get most of it but some residue will remain and build up over time. The bottom is not a food prep surface so it doesn't need to be constantly sparkling. Any accessories that are food prep surfaces are treated appropriately.

I'm only hesitating on this and the Kraus (which seem almost identically beloved online) because of those tight radius corners. I really wish they put even a 1/8"-3/16" radius in there so it's not a place for buildup. I'm in a hard water area.

@@luke9822 1-2 week I use the scrubbie. After every cooking session I just give it a rinse with the sprayer. If you cook sparingly and are really clean about it you could go monthly or more between scrubs.

Ruvati is manufactured in Texas (?) but a disgruntled purchaser online said he found his model was actually made in China. I was wondering if you had purchased either and were pleased/displeased? Warning buyers! Ruvati stainless steel sink is a low grade SSTL materials. Mine after 1 year some spots rust occurred. Brilliant nice look after a year gone.

I have the 45”. If I had the room, I’ve have gotten the biggest one. Many prep functions that used to take place on the counter next to the sink now take place on the cutting board in the sink. Very helpful for clean up and messy drippings. You’ll love your big sink!

i never understood the 1 sink basin, this must be an american thing. you literally wash your dishes and as they're dripping, put them in the dishwasher? that makes zero sense. why not have the 2nd basin, wash your dishes and just put them in the 2nd basin to dry and no need to make a mess with water all over the counter and floor? there is zero need for a dishwasher unless you're throwing a 6+ person party.

My sink is just a dirty dishes staging spot for the dishwasher most of the time. Big pots and pans and knives are hand washed and placed on the drying rack that drains into the sink.

@@JoeMalovich why not just hand wash all the dishes at once if you're already washing utensils and pots? instead, you hand wash some dishes, pre-wash the rest of the dishes, load up the dishwasher, unload the dishwasher? no wonder "doing dishes" is considered a chore - it takes people hours to clean dishes.

@@wrxzboost our dishwasher is ran one to two times a day due to plenty of gone cooking and two young kids. It's much faster to let it do the work, not to mention less water used and less power. I only rinse off heavy food particles and any red sauce because that likes to stain the baby bottles. It's also much hotter than I can do by hand and therefore safer.

as a chef i can tell you you dont get any back pain washing or working in a deep sink.. and most of the gadgets that come with these sinks are close to useless.. the best thing about the sink is that its deep like commercial grade sinks.. and you can buy a full stainless bench with 2 sinks and a hat top edge for the cost of that sink..

Yes I could get a commercial sink in a bench but how would I integrate that with consumer cabinetry? Would it be as space efficient? Home resale value? If I was building a kitchen like Jon Favreau's home kitche in the movie chef then full commercial everything would make sense. The roll-up grate keeps things at counter height, I only bend down slightly to reach something in the bottom of the sink.
