I installed a pair of these on my 5th wheel seven years ago and they have worked flawlessly for all these years. Definitely one of the best upgrades you can do. I just bought another 5th wheel and will be ordering and installing this kit again!

I installed these Hatchlift Kits for the two "up" opening storage doors on my Class C. What a GREAT product. Makes one wonder how I lived with these doors without the Hatchlift kit. HIGHLY recommended. Oh, and the install was super easy as this video illustrates. If you have "up" opening hatch doors without gas springs don't wait another day. Get these right away.

I just want you to know that I really enjoy your videos! They are so professionally done and informative. People don't know how much time and effort it takes to create the content, plan the video, narrate, and edit. I also appreciate the step by step instructions. Many DIY videos seem to skip or gloss over critical steps. Thanks for sharing and creating the discount opportunity!

Thanks for another great, detailed how-to video! And thanks for getting us a discount! That bed-lift has given me some ideas... And since people have mentioned it, I too think your voice and speech are an important part of why your videos are so good. Good camera work too.

Hi. That was a very nice instructional video!! Very well done! I really love your channel. It's one of the best out there for easy "how to" instruction. I have been a Aircraft mechanic for 30 years now and I have installed these types of kits on airplanes many many times, And recently I showed this "how to"video to a few of our new Mechanics. It really helped me from having to explain the installation process to them and holding there hand through the that process! Nice job!! It is exactly how we install them on aircraft, but the door strut kit is from a different manufacturer (Door Buddy/ Door Butler) There are alot of things on R.Vs that cross over into the Aircraft industry. Happy to say😃 I'm retiring in about a year or so and my Wife and I are going to R.V full time!! Yeaaa! I can't wait to hit the road. Fun stuff! We are in the process of buying our Rig. We have looked at a few now. My research has lead me to the American Coach Company? Fleetwood to be exact?A 2003 American Dream deisel pusher to be exact? What is your thoughts on that particular brand of motorcoaches? I have spend many many hours researching and have boiled it down pretty well. Thank you very much for your vidoes. Take care and live the dream. Hawk

+Roger Hanks Thanks so much Hawk! Small world... I'm a pilot (750-hour private). Over many years of watching, reading & researching, we have three brands at the top of our short list for any future RV: 1) Newmar, 2) Entegra and 3) American Coach. In our opinion, your research has served you well. :) Happy shopping!

Nice addition. I always seem to hold our hatches open with my head instead of using the latch. I'll need to look into installing lifts.

I have a 2015 Jayco with plastic door/lock on external shower door.. Lock is completely jammed and key wont open it.. can you do a vid on how to drill out an RV access door lock?? I want to replace it but cant get it open..
@RVgeeks9 жыл бұрын
+Mark S Hi Mark. Sorry to hear about your lock. Unfortunately, we don't have any jammed locks to demonstrate on. But not sure that drilling is the best way to go. Before we tried that, we'd try Liquid Wrench penetrating oil. If you put some into the keyway, then push and pull the key in and out several times, then let it sit for a few hours, the oil may penetrate well enough to allow the lock to work. If not, then add some more oil, key in and out a few times, wait, and try again. We'd only drill as a last resort, and then very carefully and slowly.

I am looking at picking up a couple struts on Amazon and picking up at a locker location. How do you select the right weight? My current struts seem to be labeled sl-13-10 to sl-13-60 for similarly sized doors. Any suggestions on how best to choose the right struts for any given basement hatch door?
@RVgeeks2 жыл бұрын
For doors that seem to sag a bit, we just went up a notch or two and it worked great! Seems to be less of a problem having a slightly stronger strut than needed (slightly more resistance to close) than too little (door doesn’t stay up = major headache)!

oil of wintergreen will penetrate even the most stubbornly seized nuts and bolts, and lock housings.

Guys - Just wanted to say Thanks, I finally ordered the bedlift Kit (BLK-LGE) by Hatchlift and used the coupon code "GEEKS10" at checkout. It's no fun using a stick to prop up the platform mattress and the stick slips while I am retrieving items from under the bed. I will be sure to mention you guys on an upcoming installation video. Thanks Again.

If you happen to be monitoring the comments to this video, please let me know if the Hatch-Lift kit will also work on a side-swing baggage door opening such as comes on the 2017 Coachmen Mirada. THANKS!
@RVgeeks8 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael. We want to say that a very light-pressure gas spring should work fine on side-opening (east-west) doors, since they require so little pressure to hold sideways vs upwards. All of our east-west doors came from the factory with 10 lb gas springs that nicely hold them at 90 degrees straight out when the doors are open. We could have sworn that Hatchlift made a kit for that, but we're looking over their website and not seeing the spring rating on the "Small" kit. We'd think that would be the right one, but they don't show it being used on an east-west door. We'd suggest using their Contact form to ask the experts to be sure: www.hatchlift.com/contact Please let us know how you make out!
@mailmanx698 жыл бұрын
I will contact them and let you know. Thanks for the great response!

Was watching a video you posted on the access door lifts. So I thought I'd go and by a bed lift kit. I tried the coupon code but the site rejected it saying it had expired or had exceeded its useage or was invalid. Was the code for a limited time? BTW, we are still eating our "RVGEEKS hot cereal". Still good!
@RVgeeks7 жыл бұрын
Hi Terry! That code was supposed to be valid permanently, so they must need to renew it in their system. We just sent an e-mail to the company about it and will get back to you the moment it's been re-activated. Sorry for the problem. Glad you're enjoying our favorite breakfast. That's what we'll be eating tomorrow morning. :)
