RV BEACH CAMPING | PORT ARANSAS, TX | THINGS TO KNOW | FULL-TIME RV LIFE | TRAVEL NURSE

🤷‍♀️We had no idea what we had drove into…
👩‍⚕️On our way back to AZ for Victoria’s next Travel Nurse contract we made a quick stop on the Texas Gulf coast on Mustang Island that turned into both huge surprise and success! Honestly, we were just looking for sunshine & saltwater. We didn’t even know RV beach camping was allowed in Port Aransas until we walked out onto the beach our first day. Best surprise ever!
🏖We had made reservations for a couple days in Port A at Pioneer RV Park. Once we realized you could RV beach camp we decided to stay a couple extra nights on the beach. This is something we hadn’t done before so Victoria was a little nervous (getting stuck) and did a ton of research about beach camping in Port A. Here’s some things to know about beach boondocking:
✅ You must purchase a Parking Permit. It is good for the entire season but you can only use it 3 days, every 3 weeks. You can purchase the Parking Permit at one of the local gas stations for $12.
✅ Parking is permitted on the beach from markers 0 - 62.
✅ Vehicle must be parked 50ft from water/25 ft from driving lane.
✅ Fires are allowed (3x3) & drinking permitted until 6pm
General RV Beach Camping Guidelines:
✅ Always park above high tide line.
✅ Place something flat under tires & stabilizers (Port A has hard pack sand, so no worries here)
✅ Possibly deflate tires up to 50% (more surface area for traction)
✅ If stuck, place board under tires for traction OR pour water around tires to create more compact sand.

Well North Padre Island ,that is about the same as where you were.Padre Island National Seashore.There you can go about 20 miles farther south after that need 4 wheel drive to go the other 40 miles.

Great video. I believe now you can not park like that on the beach. You have to back in towards the water. You can’t be parallel to the water. Check posted dates for this. May only be during busy season.

Try the national sea shore next time they have a park right on the beach or you can park on the beach there also

Awesome job showing Port A. We just left there ourselves after spending 4 months. Only drawback is the wind never stops. Actually we had 5 days in 4 months that we could do a fire or cookout., it’s just way to windy for me to say I had a good stay. Jimbo

Yeah even on the warmest, sunniest day it was crazy windy! Still had a blast though.

The wind keeps the mosquitos away! But to build a fire, dig a hole in the sand 12-18 inches deep, throw a bag of charcoal into it( don't even need to open it, pour on some charcoal starter fluid, stack firewood on top and light it up. The fishing shop across from The Islander has fire wood and so does the IGA grocery.

We some some really big rigs including several Class As out there. The sand is super hard packed. Pretty sure you would be fine. Let us know how it goes!
