Appreciate you taking the time to walk through all the steps. About to replace all 4 brake assemblies on my 5th wheel. Probably go ahead and just order new bearings too.

This is an awesome back yard mechanic brake fix-it video. Working without jack stands and blowing dust maybe not so good. Replacing one on the opposite side is a thought? No chalks is bc the trailer is still being connected to the truck. Choice of footwear is excellent !!! Overall a 4.5 out of 5

Haha I'll take that! Pretty good score I think. No jack stand because 3 tires are still on the ground if the jack fails the one axle drops closer to the ground. That's it. Nobody gets crushed. Still good idea to use one but that was why. Blowing brake dust? That's how I've cleaned brakes for 40 years. Nobody suggested breathing it in, lol. And finally only one brake changed because the trailer had extremely low road miles. Litterally laying a new brake beside the old you can't tell the difference. Just had the one fell apart was the issue. Thanks for the high score. I appreciate it! Oh and flip flops because it was HOT!!

Make sure each brake has electrical power. When my brakes got weak last summer, I found one brake non-functional because of a broken wire.

Don't use an air hose on all of that brake dust, brother -- microscope razor blades right to the lungs. Use brake cleaner.

If that trailer is not connected to your truck, CHOCK THE WHEELS!

I have a 2016 Outdoors RV travel trailer and took the hubs off to repack the bearings today. What I found was something very unusual. Both right side arms that hold the electro magnet were broken off at the 90* bend. The left sides were fine.

Do these self-adjusting trailer brakes adjust when moving forward, or only when reversing?

I use a mask, compressed air, and brake clean before putting the drums back on.

A few items of concern on this video . . . 1. USE JACK STANDS! Be safe people!!! 2. Don’t reuse cotter pins. They’re cheap, just replace them. Bent pins are compromised if used more than once. 3. Don’t EVER blow brake dust off. Unless you like cancer. Use brake cleaner. It also degreases as well. 4. You’re already in there, why not clean and repack the bearings? That grease looks WAY used up bruh! 5. There was almost zero grease on the fourth wheel outer bearing when you installed it. Using the zerk fitting alone to add grease won’t get the grease everywhere you need it, which is why you should pack the bearings properly before installing. 6. I’ve always been taught that if you replace one brake, you do the companion brake on the other side as well. You want the brakes grabbing with the same timing. Again, pure already in there and have the parts. Just do the job right.

I was very interested in your video, but, the snap, crackle, pop, in your audio made it impossible for me to watch. I am deaf as a tree stump without my hearing aids. My hearing aids are connected to the video via Bluetooth but whatever that snap, crackle, pop, was coming from sounded like firecrackers in my ears. Future videos, please consider improving the audio. Thanks for the video, but sorry I couldn’t finish it.

There was no crackling in the audio at all. Not sure what you’re talking about. Might wanna check your hearing aids.

I heard the same noise the person is talking about. I think the man working on his brakes was sitting on a rolling chair which was making a lot of noise
