Kitty nose boops the camera. So cute!! I lived in Keremeos for 4 years and moved back to the Island in 2021. I always enjoyed the drive thru Manning but never stopped to camp. Might have to put that on my "Bucket List"

Definitely add to the ‘Bucket List” if headed that way! Yes, we enjoy the ‘boops” as well! 🚐

Lightning Lakes campground is still FCFS until the end of the month so we decided to take Friday off and head up there this Thursday for a long weekend. Then I opened your video... Oh well, we'll cross paths again one of these days and I'll show you our '98 Roadtrek. :-)

Look forward to it! Enjoy the weekend, but check the dates we think Lightning Lakes doesn’t open until the 16th (we might be wrong). Not really an issue if so; likely some space for one night at one of the other campsites.

Awesome video Gordon and Miki! Those views are amazing. Manning Provincial Park is such a stunning place. The views there never get old. I’m hoping to go there sometime this summer. Glad you had a great trip and safe travels!

Hello, I’m new😊 Great videos! I found you through watching Zion info & reviews. Thank you for filming yours. Lots of helpful info! We are 8 years in to our 2015 PW Ascent. Going through some of the same thought processes as you with regards to changing rigs (or upgrading current). Surprised we haven’t crossed paths - see ya out there!

Really nice camping spot you found. Manning is very picturesque! After watching one of your relaxing videos, we feel like we’ve had a little getaway too. Miki I hope your hip feels much better and Gordon you look just fine without your morning makeup.

That’s perfect and thank you! Our spot (#8) was great; and we loved the shade, but a little close to the road in and thus we did get a bit of dust sometimes from the other campers at times as they drove by. Nothing significant.

🙏 We always enjoy the different campsites there! Windy Joe is a pleasant shorter hike with some great views…and can be a nice snowshoe in winter as long as you don’t need to break trail. And though not present; you guys were mentioned several times in conversations! 🚐

Looks like another great trip to Manning. Thanks for sharing. You mentioned mosquitoes - do you have a favourite mosquito repellant? Hope you are feeling better soon, Miki.

Add to your list for another visit! A few nice trails to bike too. No favorite repellent, however we do find the Thermacell Portable Mosquito Repeller works quite well; it says it lasts 12 hours and that may be the case for the fuel, but the little tabs it burns only last an hour or two.

Great video. Many years ago we came across a yearling bear on the hike up Windy Joe. We thought it was another families dog and when we go to the summit, we realized they did not have a dog! Are the rhododendrons out yet? Those small flowers Gordon saw are phlox. Nancy

🙏 in all our years of hiking in Manning we have yet to see a bear…not even any scat on this trip. We didn’t stop at Rhododendron Flats but did see a few in bloom as we drove past. We think it may be getting difficult for some in that the forest canopy there continues to grow and thus light might become less. Appreciate the flower ident (creeping phlox)!

I once ran into Al Grass, the rock star of B.C. naturalists at rhododendron Flats and he gave us a personal tour. Have also seen a bear on the road end of Canyon Nature Trail and he jumped on our van. Nancy

Thank you once again for sharing your Manning Park adventures again. We love Manning Park as well but sadly haven't been able to visit in awhile. I was wondering your thoughts (pros & cons) of Coldspring vs MuleDeer campgrounds as we have never camped at Coldspring. Thank you so much, Cheers!
@hikenrv
@hikenrv Жыл бұрын
We enjoy both; in fact they are similar in many ways. Mule Deer is less rustic; has several flush ‘outhouses’ and running water. Note; Mule Deer was recently vandalized and the flush toilets and water systems were closed waiting to be fixed. Both are close to the highway, but if you can find sites nearer the river it largely covers any noise, usually only an issue during the daytime. If you are near the road by Coldspring perhaps louder simply as it is on a hill, plus as we noted in the video there is now a provincial gravel pit in the park right across the highway. Overall we prefer Coldspring if you want to access a few hikes directly and it also has a reasonable walk to the resort area. Perhaps a bit more shade overall if hot. Mule Deer is a bit more isolated, has many great camping spots, and we think may not be as busy (it is smaller)and thus may be preferred by some.

@@hikenrv Thank you for your prompt, detailed reply. (Sorry for my late reply). Thanks for the heads up on Mule Deer, saddens me terribly when people have to do that kind of destruction - Grrr. I like the fact at Coldspring you have access to a few hikes without having to drive anywhere extra. I don't think you do at Mule Deer? Did you say in your vid the sites at Coldspring were first come first serve? We'll have to check Coldspring out hopefully soonish. Thanks again!
@hikenrv
@hikenrv Жыл бұрын
@@serenitynow8265 hope it helped. And yes, no hikes we are aware of at Mule Dear itself. Both it and Coldspring are a mix of reserved and FCFS sites, with the majority being reservable during the main season.
