I know some people use a small blow-up ball to place under the slide topper to allow proper water to flow off the topper.

I've heard of that but I just know it would end poorly with either several exploded balls or another ripped slide topper... I'd love it if I could mount the topper higher on the motorhome so it's not basically flat. Most fivers I see have a good slope on their toppers because there's so much wall above the slides for the rails to sit higher on.

We didn't have them on our last rig and didn't miss them. I don't know if I'd go out of my way to add them given the issues we've had so far. I may change my tune after a few months of using them without any trouble though.

Just an FYI. For ever 4’ you go up with an extension ladder the base of the ladder should be 1’ away from the wall it’s leaning against

That screw is a #2 Robertson. Curious, why didn’t you put the topper in the gutter first and then work the topper into the tube from the ground?

I was following the maintenance/repair instructions from the topper manufacturer for what order to do things in. I don't know if that would've been any easier to put it on the rig first because then we'd be trying to roll it up evenly while working our way up ladders. Once we had it far enough on there where we could flip it up onto the roof to readjust it was pretty easy.

Five2Go just curious because when I did mine we did it the way I suggested and it appeared easier than handling the long ‘boom’ on the ladders. Appreciate the response. Keep the cameras rolling. You guys are great!

You may want to get a swim floating to put between the slide out and topper. It will help support the fabric when it rains. “EZ Roll top support.” This one is expensive but maybe you can come up with another idea.

My husband took 3 pool noodles and tape them together to hold the slide topper up so it does not hold the rain as back because of the slack

Five2Go yes he gets a ladder to put them up and down but it has help.

The extendable ladder goes up to 12 feet and holds 350 pounds. I've used it about a dozen times now and so far so good! I was honestly more worried about Dan standing so high up on those A frame ladders of his, but it definitely helps that he's 6'6" or something like that! 😋

Just a little Tech tip get some spray silicone spray the whole Channel Down and the top half inch of yawning will go in much easier list cussing

It actually went in very easily on both the barrel and the rig - it was just a matter of getting it all the way up there and in place!

We got it in April and the toppers looked worn but ok back then. It's not a big deal - we'd spend way more on gas getting this thing in for service than the replacement fabric cost us.

Looks like you’re 10 up and your like 8’ away!! That’s dangerous. That’s why you have an adjustable ladder!! You don’t have to open it up all the way. Good chance you dented your RV

That's the camera lens making it look that way. The ladder can be stopped at any of the rungs so it's totally adjustable and I had the bottom probably 3' away from the edge of the rig. No dents!
